5-Day Weekend

I am so excited for this weekend because it's a 5 day weekend for me. I get out early on Thursday and I am off on Friday and Monday for Labor Day! My friend, Rhonda called today and I told her about my plans to paint the nursery this weekend so she is coming over on Friday morning to help me paint! Now I just got to get the remaining junk out of there this week! Yikes!!! So much to do to prepare for baby. I am just glad it is all happening!

One Thing Down, A Million More To Go!

We finished putting together the baby's crib! Its so exciting and not to mention cute!

Couldn't Resist

Happy almost weekend everyone! Might as well add one more to the collection!! Genie was so cute we couldn't help but buy this Vinylmation last night when it went up on the Disney Store site at 2am! Well, let me clarify that statement by saying that it was hubby who stayed up late and bought this Vinylmation. But I could hardly be mad at this purchase as he is so darn cute! I am going to have to come up with a creative way to display these puppies since hubby and I's addiction apparently can't stop. We will likely head to Disneyland this weekend for some trading as we haven't been in a while. I am looking forward to it. That and the Häagen-Dazs® 1/2 off special for passholders that I read about yesterday!!! In other news, the cleaning out of the office is coming along. We had a garage sale and was able to get rid of some items. I think we have to have another one so we can unload more. Its really amazing what we accumulate over the years! I don't know wh

Disney's D23 Expo Explained By A Fan (Me)

I have always wanted to go to the Disney D23 Expo but it wasn't until I became "A Disney Freak" this past December with my Vinylmation collecting that hubby and I decided to purchase tickets to this year's show. Since we were already D23 members it made buying tickets to the Expo all the more easier. So what is a D23 Member you ask? D23 is Disney's official fan club. With a membership you get all kinds of discounts, access to buy special merchandise, access to cool events and much more. The Expo which is held each year at the Anaheim Convention Center, is very much like San Diego's Comic Con. D23 refers to 1923, the year Walt Disney started his studio. There are presentations, special exhibits, and a vendor floor where vendors come out and sell their Disney Memorabilia and merchandise. Basically, if you are a Disney fan, you will love this expo. Hubby and I had a pretty good time and agreed we would go again. But alas, like Comic Con, the lines were l

Preparing For The Epidural

Today, I experienced another baby first, I signed up at the hospital I am going to deliver at for 7 different baby related classes. I felt like I was going back to school or something and it sort of freaked me out as school was never a favorite of mine!!! Here is what I got planned for this fall: 1. Maternity Tour of Hospital (This is where hubby and I get freaked out) Wednesday, September 28th, 7-8:30pm 2. Infant Safety & CPR (Okay, there is no joke for safety) Monday, October 17th, 7-9:30pm 3. Breast Feeding (This is where hubby learns my boobs will never be the same) Thursday, Nov 3, 7-9:30pm 4. Childbirth Preparation aka Lamaze (This is where I learn to yell at hubby) Saturday, Nov 05, 8:30-12:30AM Saturday, Nov 12, 8:30-12:30AM Saturday, Nov 19, 8:30-12:30AM

I Splurged...

...on baby fashion. This morning I ordered my diaper bag from Nordies!! I am sooooo excited about it! Every year for my birthday I get a gift card to Nordies from a good friend and for a while, I had no idea what to do with it. I don't usually shop at Nordies much but as the years passed I have now come to really embrace the Nordies gift card now that I have discovered their shoe and purse departments! I now have a tradition each birthday to look for a new purse or pair of shoes that I normally wouldn't buy. In my current state, I am not up to wearing high heels nor do I really need a new purse so my attention turned to another department, the baby department. And that is when I discovered the diaper bags. The moms on my forum were talking about "the best" diaper bags and two names unfamiliar to me popped up. According to these ladies, a gal just needs to get a Petunia Pickle Bottom or JuJu Be diaper bag. I googled the names to see what all the fuss was

We Are So Not Artists

Earlier this evening hubby and I headed over to Arcadia to visit with our friends, the Pierces, for Game Night. The game in question was Pictionary. The players were 8 (4 couples). When it came time to split into teams of course the nature split was men against women. But we quickly found that it didn't matter the gender because we all sucked at drawing and guessing! hehehe So we changed the rules up a bit and let each turn be an "All Play" so either the boys or the girls could advance each turn. The boys started off doing well and then us girls changed our luck and started catching up but the boys came in at the last minute to take the game. Largely due to the combo of hubby and Bree's boyfriend who seemed to be able to read each other minds or they were equally, just good at the game. Verona made 4 different homemade pizzas, salad and of course dessert so I will wheeling my bowling ball bell home full of food!! Fun times were had.

A Little Person is Coming!

...and they need a bed! Hubby and I just ordered a white 4 in 1 crib for our baby girl off of Amazon! Along with a pink breathable bumper (don't ask what a breathable bumper is verses a regular one, just imagine a lot of research online) , a turtle crib sheet (turtles are mom's favorite cuz they reminder her of Hawaii) , a birdie crib sheet (dad's favorite, cuz he is into birds lately) and a white and pink crib skirt, we are going to have one good looking crib soon!!!! The only thing we are missing is a mattress! We tried to order one from Amazon but they wanted to charge us $55 for shipping which is crazy!! The mattress only cost $80 bucks so we hit the delete button and will be heading to Babies R US or Target to get one of those. This week, hubby and I also decided on our colors for the nursery. We are going with "Hawaiian Shell" and "Smoked Oyster." Imagine a soft pink and a soft brown/grey. Not sure if brown/grey is a good descri

Oh The Drama of the Turtle Crib Sheet!

LESSON: This blog is going to teach you a valuable lesson about American Express Gift Cards and how they need to be registered in your name if you are to use them to buy merchandise online or over the phone. It was only 6 years ago that I remember telling hubby I hated gift cards as presents because they are so impersonal however, flash forward a few years and I couldn't be more in love with them! I especially love gathering them all up and planning out exactly what I am going to buy and making a big shopping trip out of my cards. Makes me feel like I am rich for a day. To me, gift cards are like "free money." Unlike cash which can easily go into a bank acocunt or spent on crap you didn't intend to use it on, once you get a gift card you are beholden to spend it or lose the value. So for me, getting a gift card is like the one time I can truly treat myself and buy myself something I have always wanted. And you people know I love looking at catalogues so I usua

Holy Cupcakes!

So my good friend, Miguel surprised me tonight by stopping by my house to drop off a birthday treat! Wrapped up in that all too recognizable box was 12 delicious looking cupcakes from Sprinkles...only the best cupcakes in the world!!! They were even decorated with Birthday greetings!!! I immediately dipped into a chocolate one. Yummers!

My Birthday Celebration

Have you ever noticed that weekends go by too quickly? I think we should rally the troops for a 3 day weekend! What do you think? Are you with me? This past weekend we celebrated my 36th year of birth. Hubby threw me a party at our house. Together with his partner in crime, my MIL, Rosemary, they decked the house out with balloons, sushi cupcakes, a backyard movie projector, a cotton candy machine, a snow cone machine, and did I say a ton of food? I had a great time visiting with all my peeps, many of whom I haven't seen in a while. I think I can say the cotton candy machine was a hit! Everyone had so much fun twirling sugar around in a bowl and spinning sugar into various forms. The alcoholic snow cones (for the non-pregnant people) were also a hit. Hubby and MIL's homemade sushi cupcakes were really delicious as well. I have been craving sushi like mad but due to pregnancy I am not allowed to have any so dear sweet hubby took one of my favorite things

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yesterday, I turned 36 years old. I was supposed to go to Disneyland with my old roommate, Rebekah and her kids, but alas my ankle injury prevented that from taking place. Instead, I went to work and had a very nice day. One of my co-workers made Frito Pie in honor of the Footloose Trailer (yes, there is a Frito pie appearance). Someone sent me some yummy chocolate chip cookies and another person sent me this beautiful bouquet of flowers!!! I received several cards with birthday wishes. Overall a low key day but it was very nice at the same time. It doesn't' always have to be a big blow out or an Alice In Wonderland party. hehehe When I got home from work hubby took me to a nice Italian dinner where we heard a piano player play oldies but goodies in a very Soprano's type scene. The restaurant was decorated in a way that it felt very old world, very New York, very Italian. It was nice to have dinner with hubby and when the baby comes we will have to make time to have date ni

Laguna Beach Birthdays

This was a pretty quite weekend for hubby and I. Spent most of Saturday working on small house projects in anticipation of baby B's arrival and getting sucked into two movies (Fried Green Tomatos and Overboard) on TV. On the project front, we basically have to take all the crap out of the office and find a new home for it amongst our house. All those picture frames that were in the office are now down and finding new homes elsewhere or being put away. We broke free (hubby likes to joke I only let him leave the house once a day on the weekends - which is kinda true but it's not like I purposely plan it that way) later in the afternoon with a quick to trip to get some birthday Cold Stone ice cream (peanut butter perfection) and run some errands. The only big thing we did while we were out was pick up our free baby gift bag at Target after managing to fill up a Baby Registry at Target. Thanks to my brother, who gave me a list of medicines and ointments one needs for a baby.
