Emotional Week

So on Tuesday my company announced they were making major structural changes at the studio which effects my group. Seems they are bringing the marketing from London to LA. In an effort to go global they are getting rid of all my colleagues jobs in London and bringing the jobs here. A few key employees will be offered jobs in the US but let's be realistic, it's one thing to move to a new city but a different country when you have a family is an entirely different thing. Overseas friends, colleagues and vendors I have known for 8 years are now going to be out of work. The ironic part is we make way more money than the US and it's them who are going to get worldwide titles. We just came off a record breaking summer, worked immensely hard and suddenly people don't get their yearly bonus and find themselves with a pink slip. I am so completely heartbroken for my friends and now I have to wonder if my job is safe. People say I am good because they will need my experience b

Things Are Progressing

As fall progresses so does project baby. The last few weeks have been pretty busy both at work and at home. At work we are down five positions in my department. My coordinator, just turned in her resignation letter this past week, which stressed me out because now I have to find a replacement for her and train them and find my temporary replacement and train them. In addition to those two positions we have three other positions we have to fill. Now I was doing extremely well in not stressing these past months but I couldn't help it this past week. My coordinator is so good and helps me out so much it feels like I can't possibly find another person so good. Anyhoo, works just crazy. I think my boss may be worried I won't return after the baby as he has been showing me weird flow charts where I am promoted. But alas I can't really believe them because the reason we are down so many people is because no one feels appreciated aka the company refuses to promote anyone. I

My Complaint For the Week....

It's too friggin' hot!!! I thought I had made it through the entire summer without extreme heat but I guess, I was WRONG! I was amazed how chill LA was this summer (we actually had pleasant weather) . However, for some reason, the week it is supposed to get cool (it's considered fall after Labor Day right? ), it gets friggin' hot! As in 100 degrees hot, as in my house it soo hot when I get home from work hot that opening windows doesn't help because its still hot outside hot! It's September for goodness sakes! I guess someone forgot to tell mother nature that cuz she is doing a real number on the citizens of LA this week. I was so concerned for Moses we took him to daycare today so he could run around in air condition and dip into doggie pools if need be. Mother Nature just had to wait until I was big as balloon and totally uncomfortable with my body to make it even more uncomfortable for this preggo lady. Tisk. Tisk!

Irish Laboring

Yesterday, I ended up at an Irish themed Labor Day party.Huh? One of hubby's work mates who has an irish last name invited him to a party at his apartment. We headed over to Hollywood to check it out an were completely flabbergasted to discover a room full of tiny children yelling and bouncing around. We thought we were at the wrong party but nope the guy who invited hubby appeared with a small, smiling little brown haired boy. After realizing we were at the right house we had one of those OMG moments when we realized that this room was probably going to become our life shortly. Boy was that a weird moment. So what do you do when u feel like u have entered the twilight zone? You go to the food table. Well, I found a chair in the corner and hubby went to the food table which didn't look too appetizing considering the peanut butter and jelly cookie cutter sculpted sandwiches and juice boxes and cookies. hubby brought back a small plate of food and we plotted our escape as we kn

Lounging in Laguna

Sometimes I think hubby and I are on our own island. We sure do spend a ton of time with each other. Even though I know hubby loves me I think he misses his pals. It is pretty easy to go through a weekend without seeing any friends. Its not that we don't like hanging out, it's more like you have to make plans in advance as no one is ever available last minute and it's always the last minute when we decide it would be cool to hang with friends. Anyhow since neither of us are really good at setting stuff up we spend a ton of time by ourselves. Good thing we like each other and that Moses guy is a pretty good chap. In spending time with hubby I have discovered that my hubby is the happiest when we do stuff so I do try to keep him busy but this involves me thinking of things to do. See I could sit at home and watch movies all day but he like to be occupied. The key with hubby is not to be too busy cuz then he says we do too much. So I try to alternate our weekends of doing comp

Cravings Take 2

So after shopping all day for baby girl, hubby suggested we go to Downtown Disney, as there were some vinyls he couldn't buy during his last trip and he found out they were now in stock. So we drove thew extra half hour to Ahaheim. I was okay with the stop because I was craving something sweet and also, something salty. That is when I remembered that yummy smelling carmel corn they sell at Disneyland. So hubby got his vinyls and I hit up the Lego store (because I have now found that collecting Lego men takes up less space than vinyls) and afterward I got a nice big scoop of piping hot carmel corn. The guy who served us seemed to be in love with hubby's Bob Dylasn tshirt and his interest was holding up the serving of my popcorn. I was a bit annoyed as once you have a craving in your head its is hard to get it out until you have that item (right now I am thinking about some chocolate milk - darn those forum ladies). Anyhow, after what seemed like forever, I got my bag of p

The Zombie Fortress

Baby girl's closet is shaping up nicely thanks to some of momma and dadda's shopping splurges this past holiday weekend! Hubby and I spent late Saturday morning and early afternoon at The Citadel Outlet Mall aka "The Zombie Fortress". Huh? See hubby calls it a Zombie fortress because the outside of the outlet mall is decorated like a big medieval castle that gives the appearance of a well protected fortress. Every time we pass the outlet mall, which is a lot because we are always passing it on the way to Disneyland, hubby mentions that in a zombie attack we should head to this outlet mall for protection from the brain eating creatures. I am not sure about you but I think of zombie attacks all the time....NOT...oh the things boys think of in their heads!! On Saturday, when we arrived (after a crazy misguided exit from the freeway that took us in circles) I think hubby was sad to find out the wall doesn't actually enclose the shopping outlet and it's only the f

Baby's Room

....has been painted! Thanks in large part to my friend Rhonda who offered to come over and help me paint! Don't worry folks hubby bought non-toxic paint and I used a mask and Rhonda wouldn't let me bend or reach much. I just really wanted to take part in the room as I have been thinking about it for so long! Rhonda and I were able to tackle the bottom and some of the top (well, she tackled the top as there was no stepping on ladders for me!). There is just a small bit for hubby to do which he will finish this coming Monday! The room is down to 3 pieces of furniture: the crib, a chair and my scrap booking table. The scrap booking table will go whenever someone strong and manly visits our residence to help hubby. I told hubby to ask our neighbor but he said he would like for our neighbors to like us and whomever moves that table will not like us. I don't think it is that heavy?!? Anyhow, I am sooo excited to have the painting over because then I can

Our Idiot Brother

I miss going to the movies all the time! My popcorn, my hot dogs and my chocolatety raisinettes, oh they sound so good right now! Hubby and I got out of the house Friday night and had some Chinese grub and then caught My Idiot Brother with Paul Rudd minus my concession goodies. The film wasn't my first choice (i've been hearing good things about The Help) but the flick worked out on my time schedule (I didn't want to be out late). On the Plus side it got a 68% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes so that bode well for my enjoyment. For a fall gloom movie (studios usually dump their crap or hard to sell films in the fall) it was pretty enjoyable if not a little long in the middle. Some good laughs. I'd recommend it in a there isn't a lot of good movies out right now kind of way. Its usually pretty fun watching Paul Rudd act goofy. So if u are aching to see a flick like I was this film will suffice.
