I Was Totally That Lady!

Drove up to Big Bear yesterday to have some fun in the snow with our neighbors. We thought it may be fun to teach our 3 year olds how to ski. $300 later we found out that 3 year olds don't like to ski (at least our two 3 year olds). In our case, Penny is OCD about clothing. She got those ski boots on and wasn't able to get over the tight feeling. She cried and cried and latest about 10 minutes on the skis. I was able to get her back on them a few hours later and pull her around for another 10 minutes. But, basically, she and her friend, Olivia, had fun playing in the snow. Who wouldn't at 3? I actually think she would have liked skiing if it wasn't for the shoes. She is pretty daring and loves the outdoor. But alas, skiing does take a bit of skill/coordination which I remembered when I went down the bunny hill screaming my head off. After 20 years away from skiing, one doesn't always remember how to ski gracefully down a hill. Basically, I couldn'

Big Bear

I caption this, 3 year olds who use iPhones. Penny: Which mountain should we ski today? Bear or Summit? Olivia: Let me check my app and see which has the better snow.

Preschool

Filled out my very first preschool application today. For some reason, this is very terrifying to me and I have been avoiding it for a while. Guess it is just very weird to have a child in school.

TBT - Alzheimer's‎

tbt - Remembering my grandmother, Shirley Jane. I recently saw "Still Alice" and couldn't help but cry watching Julianne's amazing, truly deserving, oscar performance. It was like I was watching my grandmother's last years all over again. My grandmother was a wonderfully vibrant and thoughtful woman. Today, I remember what a fun lady she was. The last time I saw her, we were walking arm and arm and she was able to come out of her "trance" for 5 minutes and talk to me. She just wanted to know I was okay.

Level 3 Achieved

Penny is doing so well in her swim lessons. She is now a level 3-er in a 12 step training program. Go Penny! Mom is proud!

Will You Be Mine?

Mommy, Daddy, and Penny had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day 2015. We started with a little photo shoot at the Picture People which resulted in the below two glamour shots. Then we continued the fun on the 13th with dinner and presents at Little Beast, our news favorite restaurant in our 'hood. It is so stinking fun to watch Penny absorb all of these holidays. She especially loves presents. My heart melts when I give her something and then she grabs my leg for squeeze and says "Thank you Mommy!" This year I gave her a bag full of goodies that included a pink big eyed giraffe, candy, and SpongeBob T-shirt and Legos courtesy of Paramount. I worked with a custom Vinylmation artist for hubby's present which was a hand painted Alice in Wonderland Vinylmation featuring Alice in a Teacup. I had so much fun helping the artist design Alice! Now I really want to do another one!! Finally, on the day itself. And then, we spent the 14th at Disneyland! I made lunch

Happy Villiantine's Day!

Gotta love Disney!

Caroline Elopes!

So another one of my girlfriends (in fact my Maid of Honor in my wedding) is now off the market! Last night, night we celebrated Caroline and Minh's 12.13.14 elopement (in Park City Utah) at the truly fabulous Faith and Flower Restaurant downtown. Our party of 10 included the bride and groom, hubs and I, Amy and Larry, Jon and Danielle, Jung and Toby who came down from Northern California for the night. Faith and Flower was a really nice place, with a 1929's atmosphere and really tasty, if not incredibly expensive food. It was recommended to me by my foodie friend, Rodeline, after giving her some info about our night. After two hours of dinning family style with such dishes as Oxtail Agnolotti, Deviled Jidori Eggs, Ny Steak Tartare, Confeit Duck Leg, Grilled Broccolini, Burrata Pizza, Roasted Mushroom Pizza, Sauteed Blue Lake Green Beans, and Kanpachi Ceviche and partaking in fun drinks like the Harry Winston (think Japanese whiskey on a square block of ice) or English

Gosh Darn It!

The fun thing about remodeling is all the different things you could do. You get to pick and choose new stuff that is to your taste and not something that was there when you bought it or inherited it. This weekend our contractor gave us the home work assignment of finding a new front door. So we went to a local door shop and looked at a variety of doors. We left the shop pretty confident of what we wanted and settled on a door before we even got home. Here is the door we settled on. So this morning we go to place our order with the very nice man who helped us and guess what? They don't make the door anymore. So that left us with our second choice. Hubby's second choice was retro. My second choice was this: I really didn't think the retro door would work on our house so I insisted on picking my second choice. This is the hardware we are going to use: It was a crazy Monday morning going back and forth on e-mail and text but I think hubby and I finall

Super Bowl Sunday

America's pastime. The big all-American game. Yes, once again its that time of year and once again, I don't care. I've never much been into football. Except for a few high school and college games but I've never spent weekends watching the NFL. So when my good friend, who is getting married asked if I could come try on bridesmaids dresses on Super Bowl Sunday, I said sure. So I drove over to Beverly Hills which only took 15 minutes (thank you Super Bowl) to try on a plethora of dresses. Of course, they were all horrible except one and that is the one I bought because luckily the bride gave us all the option to wear whatever dress style we wanted. So I went for this simple long dress. The bride's colors will be Indigo which is not the purple shown in the photo. Although before showing up I thought Indigo was purple. While we were there trying on one hideous dress after another one of the brides down the hall comes out in (I kid you not) an Elsa Wedding Dr
