Why You Should Always Valet

I sprained my foot and the tendons in my ankle! And the sad part is I don't even have a good story to tell. Bummer. Here is what little story I have. Wednesday, I had plans to meet a vendor at a restaurant near the studio. They have a valet station but they literally take your car and park it on the street. So to save $6 bucks, I normally park on the street and walk to the restaurant. This time was no different. I parked and as I got close to the restaurant there were two gardeners playing with sprinklers. With all the waterworks going on I couldn't walk through or else I would get wet so I decide to walk around in the street. I step to the right, meaning to step on the grass, but instead, my foot comes down on the edge of the driveway and it a split second my ankle rolls causing immediate pain. I spend the entire lunch with my ankle propped up and ice bags galore. Thank goodness I've known the vendor for 10 years. I get back to the studio and everyone tells me to go to the

Registering Is Hard to Do

So as a member of one the pregnant lady forums, I get daily updates from the site as to what I can expect each week, what I should be eating, what I should be doing and not doing, etc. One of the tips this week was registering. This tip was backed up by long conversations on the forum board about when is a good time to register and what are good items to register for. Most women agreed a good time is around the 20 week or half way mark. Since i am almost 20 weeks I thought I should get cracking. So this past Sunday, I sat down at my computer and naturally, I went to the one place I knew a person could register and that is Babies R Us. So I created my registry name but when I got down to selecting items I was immediately confused and bewildered. Basically, I had no idea what-so-ever which items were the best to select. I immedately found that creating a baby registry is a lot harder (not to mention more stressful) than creating a wedding registry. The difference is I know what I wanted

A Scare

The thing about being pregnant in the year 2011 is that you have access to too much technology and too much information. Back in the day, a pregnant lady didn't have ultrasounds, sonograms, access to the Internet, pregnant lady forums with other pregnant woman giving 24 hour feedback on their progression. Nope, most times a lady didn't know they were pregnant until they missed a few periods or until they felt weird kicks in their stomachs. Now days you have home pregnancy test that can tell you if you have conceived days after you did the deed. Now you have access to sonograms so that you can see the little fetus growing inside of you. Now you have access to a ton of books that tell you what is good and what is not. Really, there is so much information out there you could scare yourself to death with all of it. One woman may post on the forum, I am 16 weeks and feel my baby kick all the time. If you are 18 weeks and haven't felt any kicks, you begin to wonder if there is so

Happy Birthday To Everybody's Friend, Toby!

Your good friend and mine is having a birthday today. Yes, it's Toby Cheung's birthday. If by chance you don't know Toby, which I find hard to believe, then all you need to know is this is a man who keeps in touch. Oh yeah, and he is really, really, really passionate about food! Buffetclub anyone? Toby somehow finds the time to keep in touch with a ton of people. I am constantly amazed by the information he knows just about my family let alone the millions of friends he has in Texas or in Vancouver, or in Hong Kong. Toby is worldwide! I guess it helps when you a photographer whose job takes you from state to state and when you have a zest for travel that takes him beyond the US shores. Not only does Toby email, phone, text, and Beluga but he somehow finds the time to send people handwritten postcards. Do you know how rare it is for people to send snail mail these days? It's rare. I don't know about everyone else but each time I get a card from Toby in the mail

This Week's Craving

Without a fail the women on the forum talk about food constantly. For instance, this weekend I had to have an Italian sandwich with Italian dressing because this lady mentioned on the site that she has been drinking Italian dressing. Well, I hope not drinking but I took her comment to mean she has had a lot of it! After the Italian thing I have moved back to sweet cravings.....This one woman wrote she was making chocolate covered pretzels and now for the life of me I can't get the thought of eating a bag of chocolate covered pretzels out of my head!!! Usually cravings start with an idea and then they are supported by images. For instance, the pretzel thing I already had in my head from Disney World when I saw little kids eating those huge chocolate covered pretzels. Then I went to Disneyland and again I saw another kids eating a pretzel. Then I read about the lady making them. Now I can't get them out of my mind. I am on the hunt for chocolate covered pretzels and its

August 5th, Can't Wait!

There are two types of pregnant couples, those that like surprises and those that don't. Hubby and I fall into the "don't" category. Aka we are gonna find out the sex of the baby. I have total respect for the people that can wait until birth but gosh darn it I don't have that much will power!!! Plus, baby clothes really are super cute. This past week though the date I was supposed to find out has changed!! It has changed to later rather than sooner. I went to see my doctor the other day and told him I had my anatomy scan on July 25th and he asked why I was going to the USC place. I replied, well after I went there for my NT scan they automatically made an appointment for the anatomy scan. I didn't know I had another choice. Then I asked quizzically, "I have other options?" He went on to explain that they only send patients to the USC place for NT scans because that is a very precise genetic test. He went on to say, that his office can perfo

Week 18

This is what Baby B looks like this week. Baby B is 5.5 inches long and weigh the size of 7 oz. Baby B is the size of a sweet potato. 23 weeks to go! BELOW: My expanding belly at week 18. I have gained 8 lbs so far. On track for 1 lb a week.

Our Fourth of July By Moses

By Moses I started my day out with mom. We went for a walk and ran into our neighbor and we ended up walking around with Kobe and his dad. Then I helped mom make 8 dozen cookies. Next I helped Dad make some guacamole. After making food we took a car ride to Culver City to Uncle Jon and Aunt Danielle's house for a huge block party. The street was closed down and there was a DJ and games (Uncle Toby won a watermelon contest and Aunt Danielle won a marble guessing contest). I helped Uncle Matt BBQ a lot of meat (burgers, hot dogs, Korean BBQ). Everyone gave me their left over Korean BBQ and big meaty bones. Uncle Toby let me lick his snow cone. I saw my cousin Mr. Chuckles (a cat). I got to pee on a lot of new trees. It was so exciting and I ate so much that I barfed in the car on the way home. I felt bad about it but mom said it was okay. But you know that cuz you had to clean it up....sorry Dad. I tried to stay up for some fireworks but I was so tired that I zonked out on the couch

Baby B at Week 16

Our baby at week 16 is 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3 oz. Baby B is the size of an avocado!

Cravings

I have always heard women talk about their craving while pregnant but I never understood what they meant until now. I don't crave much in fact, I went from being super hungry in my first trimester to being moderately hungry in my second trimester. I do still need to eat every few hours but its not like I feel the need to shovel it in anymore. But as weeks go buy there is two foods I really do enjoy. The first is eggs. I can't seem to get enough eggs. I have been taking the croissants from Costco and and making an egg with cheese. I could eat those every morning. I don't but I could. Then I have been finding that peanut butter and raspberry jelly on croissant (toasted) is pure heaven!!! I also enjoy pepperoni pizza slices and a ton of fruit. I have eaten every berry known to mankind. I could, in fact, turn into a blueberry, like in Willy Wonka. The one food that is totally unappetizing is CHICKEN. The very thought of chicken makes me want to vomit. Now th
