What is Twilight?

I have loved movies and worked in movies and I consider myself knowledgable about movies but I have no idea what this whole Twilight craze is all about. Do you? I know it's something to do about vampires and that it's the new Harry Potter but what the heck is it? All of the sudden everywhere I go I hear about Twilight. They are interviewing talent on the radio and I have no idea who these stars are. It's like Hollywood grew a new list of talent over night and didn't tell me. Anyhoo, that movie opened last night to gang buster numbers but yet, I have no idea. I have no idea about the Jonas Brothers either. Am I getting old? I guess so.

Glutton for Punishment

I did it. I can't help it. I have no will power. Right now, I don't even feel guilty about it because it was so tasty. What am I talking about?... McDonald's, and my lack of control when its comes to a cheeseburger and fries. Ever since I was little and I am talking 2 -years-old little, I have loved McDonald's. It's not like I ate there a lot when I was a kid. Usually it was a special treat to go. Of course, when I became a teen and took a job working at a movie theatre those special treats became a weekly thing. As an adult, I can no longer do weekly treats but I still have these spurts of going for a few times before I make myself feel bad. I know the stuff isn't good for me and I really should give it up but I can't help myself! I have seen that movie, yet the taste of salty french fries and a gooey, warm cheeseburger is engrained in my head. It's so dang good. I think those McDonald's people put crack in those burgers and fries

The Common Cure

I got home Friday night and collapsed on the couch. It was a long week at work and I had a bad cold and a bad cough. It wasn't the ideal time to be sick with so much going on at work and with our upcoming trip but nonetheless the germ bug got me. Saturday, despite being sick I left the house with the hub to pick up a few things for our trip. There was no other time to shop so I had to get out. I found myself at Target trying to pick out some cold medicine that fit all my symptoms when the hub returned to my side and told me he had just talked to the pharmacist. She suggested drinking plenty of juice and chicken noodle soup. I guess we hear this line every time we are sick but how many of us actually take this advise? Not I, until this time. I didn't want my bad cold to get out of hand with an upcoming trip so I took her advise and drank a gallon of orange juice for dinner. Throw in a cup of chicken noodle soup and I had enough nourishing elements in my body that wh

Sick and Tired

You could take the first part of this title two ways and you would be correct on either. I am quite literally at work on Friday night sick as dog. I am so cold and tired and wish I could go home. I am also sick and tired of work this week. This is the rush time of the year for me at work because all materials need to get made and shipped out so theatres can put them up in time for Christmas. Trying to get approvals is like pulling teeth. No one cares about schedules. It gets approved when it does and we are expected to make miracles happen to get the stuff out. I like what I do but on week's such as this one, it's hard to stay enthusiastic. There is so much to do and not enought time in day to do it. I have been working 12 hours days all this week and haven't stopped to take a break. Today the girls had to make me eat lunch. I forgot to bring mine so so a nice person offered me some food. I wish I could have called in sick but there was no one in the office but me

Can't Sleep

I can't sleep. Tuesday morning I woke up and my throat was bothering me. I think sleeping in the cold made my throat achy or the stress that was building up affected me somehow. My achy throat woke me up tonight and now I am up and I can't get back to bed so I thought I would come play around with the blog. Try out a new design. It's better then lying in bed thinking about all the things you have to do. Why is it that I can't just go back to sleep? Once my mind becomes aware it's hard to shut it off. I am hoping to play around for a while and get tired and go back to bed.

Exciting Week

It started with politics, moved to Madonna and ended with a basketball game! The Hub and I were lucky when it came to voting. We didn't have to wait in line at all. We got to our polling station at about 8AM and we were done in 15 minutes. I thought I'd be late to work but arrived on time. I came home later that night to find the hub watching the returns. We were glued to the TV until 8PM when they made the call. I was very glad to learn Barack Obama was elected President. I loved how he brought his family out and made it seem like we were sending this cute all-American family to the White House. I believe he is sincere and means to do well. I enjoyed the speech he gave and felt inspired by it. I think the reason people like him so much is that he seems like a genuine nice guy. I am sure once he gets to Washington there are promises to be made but I just get the feeling that he will try his hardest to set this country back on course. We will see. Anyhoo, en

Disappointment

So I was truly stunned when the results on Prop #8 came in on Wednesday and the majority of the voters agreed to pass that stupid measure. I can't believe I live in a state that would amend the constitution and take rights away people. I thought if we could vote a black man into office we could also help gays. But I guess the majority of people in California aren't open to gays yet. Women had to fight to get the vote so I guess gays will have to fight longer too. But really people, I would have thought we would be more opened minded by now. I guess I was wrong. When I came here from Michigan I must say I hadn't met a gay person (well, one that was out). Then I met several and you know what? They are no different except they happen to have feelings for the same sex. That's it people. I guess loving the same sex is "scary" for those "yes voters." If these "yes voters" were suddenly told they couldn't be married anymore because b

A Historic Day

No matter what happens, today will be a historic day in history! We will either have our first black person as President or our first woman as Vice-President. I am hoping it's the first black person as President though!! Whatever you do today make sure it includes a trip to your local polling place. Every vote counts!! Don't let TV mislead you over who is winning. Get your toushy out the door and go to the polling place. Its a good opportunity to meet new people while waiting to cast your vote. Don't be one of those people who say oh well my vote doesn't count cuz California (or insert any state) is Democratic (or Republican). There are measures, senators, judges, schools, veterans, children, poultry and even the potholes in the streets that are waiting for you JOE VOTER to voice your opinion. You want to be part of a vote that changes history. Your country needs you to vote. It's not just about the President but about your community, your state, your cou

Halloween

October flew by, I guess it was all the visitors. This past week I hung out with some Michigan homies at the Staples Center. The Detroit Red Wings were playing the LA Kings. I couldn't decide who to root for because I have come to be fans of both teams. Normally, I take the Kings side in these big match ups you know since I live in LA now but since I was with a bunch of Michigan people (Abbie, Grant and Jeff) I thought I'd better conform to the red side or they might hurt me. Good thing I did because it was a very exciting game with Detroit winning in an overtime shoot out. We all know the championship Wings are hard to beat when it comes to a shoot out. Tuesday had me hanging out with Jeff again for Taco Tuesday. The hub and Leslie joined us for a heated political debate over $5 all you can eat tacos at the Cabo Cantina on Sunset. I hadn't seen Jeff since his birthday in May so two nights in a row caught us all up on what has been going on in each others lives. We
