Firsts

More Baby Girl "firsts" for the week...first time she spotted the moon, first time she bit another kid, first time she said agua, first time she said applesauce, first time she fell asleep on her own at daycare, first time she blew kisses, first time she yelled "Moses," first chocolate chip cookie, and first table n chairs.

Flat Stanley

By Moses - We've had a visitor in our house for the past few days. His name is Flat Stanley and he is from Houston, Texas. He was telling us his story and it's pretty cool. He lives with Mom's little friend, Cool Cat. Cool Cat is the son of Mom's old roommate Rebe. Cool Cat and Stanley are doing a project for school. Stanley gets to travel and Bakri gets to tell his school about his adventures. Stanley wanted come to LA so my family is hosting him. He was going to fly here but airplane tickets cost a lot, so he hitched a ride from the Post Man. He is a pretty cool kid but he doesn't drop much food like my sister, Penny does. He is a pretty skinny guy and he doesn't eat too much. Anyhow, whatever he is eating smells good and I gave him a good lick. He is a lot smaller than my sister and sort of looks like a cookie so sometimes I want to eat him but mom said, "No Moses, he isn't a cookie, don't eat him." My sister likes to tug him. He is a good

My Bestie Is Engaged!

Caroline, one of my long time girlfriends aka one of my besties, texted me several times on Monday however, my phone was turned off. When I finally saw the text on Tuesday I knew something was up and tried to call her several times however, it too a while to connect. She insisted on coming over during the weekday. Since the birth of Baby Girl we really don't have friends come over during the week. Not that we don't want them over its just that by the time we get home from work, eat dinner, take a bath and put her to bed its quite late. And, we still have to walk the dog and eat dinner. Sensing it was urgent I said of course. So Caroline came over tonight. After giving her the tour of our new kitchen she started talking about Whistler and announced that she was engaged. I yelled "I knew it!" I knew something was up and I was guessing this might be it. That is when she pulled out a big beautiful ring. Many hugs were had as I tried to extract the important inf

Tea Party For 3

Today Baby Girl and I came home from work and the little table and chairs that I had ordered for Baby Girl had arrived. It was so easy to put together that I was able to construct myself without hubby's help. Baby Girl immediately loved her table and chairs and quickly found toys to play with. When Dad got home an impromptu tea party began. We even used real water. Baby Girl being the sharing person that she is is even gave Moses his own tea cup to drink from. Can you say, super cute!

Sibling Love

Could they be any cuter!?!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We didn't do anything too exciting to celebrate St. Patrick's Day other than me wearing a green shirt! ha! We headed to Lowe's, grabbed some lunch and stuck around the house in the afternoon. There is lots of cleaning up, moving and organizing to do with the the recent kitchen remodel. We are getting ready for our big Easter Egg Hunt on the 30th.

6th Anniversary

Six years ago today I married my best friend at The Olowalu Plantation on Maui! What a six years it has been. I think the biggest change in our lives is our baby girl, who we adore but who tires us out! hehehe We've been so busy with her, our kitchen remodel, moving stuff around that we really didn't plan anything for our anniversary this year. We were able to have a nice dinner out at The Tam o'Shanter with Baby Girl so that was nice. Instead of big fancy gifts we stuck to $10. We didn't plan it that way but we each gave each other something that was $10 bucks. This anniversary was the iron and candy anniversary so hubbers gave me an iron turtle and I gave him some french macaroons. Next year we will have to go to Hawaii!

Tom Cruise Bought Me Lunch!

March 13 must be my lucky day, as not only is it the day I got married but Tom Cruise bought me lunch! What?! We received an email a few days earlier that invited the marketing department to a thank you lunch for our work on his recent film. We were invited to the studio theatre where they had brought in all kinds of yummy southern food for us to eat. There was a big cake, an ice cream sundae bar, and champaign. Tom kicked off the lunch by making a speech. He basically thanked all of us all for our hard work on his film. He then took pictures with everyone and spoke to people individually. I didn't go up to him for a picture as for some reason I just wasn't in the mood but I thought it was very nice of him to take the time with everyone. I mean who ever buys us lunch? I guess Tom Cruise does! His smile really is 1000 watts.

15 Month Check Up

Penny had her 15 month check up this morning. She is weighing in at 21 lbs 7 oz, is 31.5 inches tall and has a 18 cm head. Doc said she is in excellent health. Both ear infections are healed and her lungs are well so no more inhaler! She received her last two vaccinations as well and took the shots like a trooper.

Bisquick Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I just took my kitchen aid mixer out for a spin in it's new home aka on the counter of my new kitchen. I decided to pop my oven's cherry with a Bisquick Chocolate Chip Cooki recipe from the Pinterest website. With now flour in the house, I took to scouring the internet for a cookie recipe that didn't require just flour. Luckily a few days before I came across a Bisquick recipe on Pinterest so I returned to the Pinterest site and reviewed the recipe. The Bisquick recipe only requires 5 items! how easy is that? I just through Bisquick, vanilla, an egg, brown sugar and one cup of toll house chocolate chips into the mixer and in 10 minutes I was putting a few pans of cookies into the new oven. It only took another 8 minutes and all the sudden I had a few dozen cookies to satisfy my sweet tooth. Baby Girl has never had a homemade cookie before so I gave her one and she quickly reached for another. Now that she nows they are sitting on the counter top she will go over

All Done!

Our kitchen remodel is officially all done. We started on January 28th and ended on MArch 10th. Not bad at all. Today they came to install under the cabinet lights and to fix up a few little items. I thought it was just going to be some lights but they gave us a remote. With the remote we can control the various colors from red to green to blue to regular light. It was a free gift from the contractor. I am not sure we needed all the colors but it sure does entertain baby girl, so that is cool. We wrote our last check and our contract is marked paid in full. Hubby and I only worked a billion hours for this but it sure does feel good. Its been an absolute pleasure cooking and baking in the new space. Having space and nice appliances really does make a difference. The contractor asked me to make a video so basically he filmed me in the new kitchen as I told the story of the remodel. He wanted to play it back for me but I was like, never show me that video ever. I hate m

Oinkster

My friend, Marvin with his FB talk this weekend made me hungry for some Oinkster. Penny thanks you, as it was her first time and like Colonel says, it was finger licking good!

Moving Back In

Today we moved back into our kitchen. I am so glad we didn't have to move the whole house as one room was enough! I've gone through and relined my new cabinets with fresh liner paper. I tried to wash as much as I could but I'll admit I got tired so don't drink fromthe cocktail glasses until they've been washed! At least the kitchen remodel was a good exercise at cleaning out. Ever since my grandmother passed away a few years ago and i had to see all the items my dad had to deal with upon her death, I've been trying to go though my house and sort through items we no longer use. Going though a lifetime of items upon someone's death is just horrible. Watching my dad have to deal with that really effected me and made be be even more organized and clean. Another reason to keep clean is that our house is only 1200 square feet. Now with a ton of baby toys, its even more important to stay on top of things. Its amazing what builds up in a year. Even thou

March Mommy Club

Yesterday, I attended my first Adams Hill Mommy Club meeting of 2013. I wasn't able to go to the February meeting because Baby Girl was sick and the group hadn't meet up since the last one in October 2012, which I hosted. It was so awesome to see how all the little girls have grown since October. Baby Girl is the oldest girl but the other little girls are not far behind. It's funny that our club only has girls. But at least it is good for Baby Girl, as she will have 4 little girls to grow up with in our neighborhood. In addition to Baby Girl, there is Olivia, Ava, Rebecca and Laura. Every once in a while another mom and baby from the neighborhood will join but for now these our our core members. It's really great being able to meet with other moms and to listen to their experiences. In addition to experiences, there are great tips that I never thought of. Plus, its pretty cool to go into someone elses house and see what toys and products they use that you don

French Food

Still dreaming about the hollandaise sauce from this morning's breakfast at Le Petite Beaujolais. One of my fav breakfast spots. MMMM good! We had to vacate the house this morning for our monthly clean from our housekeepers. The good thing about our favorite French place is that they have outdoor seating so Moses can join us. And boy does he ever like French food too!
