Busy, Busy, Busy

Do you ever have those months where every single weekend is jam packed with stuff? Well, that has been my family's life this past month. I'm not complaining, we are just BUSY. Hubs has been off of work for the past few weeks but he hasn't been sitting around. He has been busy with projects around the house during his in-between HOUSE WIVES gigs. He just went back to work today on ORANGE COUNTY which is starting it's 10th season. I headed into work this morning not knowing where the week is going to take me. It might very well be the end for my start up company. The good news is that my little family is happy. We've been lucky to make some new friends with people whose kids are in Penny's swim class and who, coincidentally live down the street from us. We have been having playdates here and there and this past weekend we all went out to a kid friendly brew pub for some food and libations. Did I mention they have a killer pretzel mac and chess bowl t

Afternoon Tea

Caught up with our friends, the Pierces for a Sunday afternoon full of tea. I bought one of those Groupons and sometimes you never know what you are going to get but this one didn't disappoint. We had so much tea we could practically float home! It was Penny and Dave's first tea and I think both had an enjoyable time. Verona brought her big floppy pink hat which we somehow got Penny to try on for a picture or two. She was quick to throw it to the found as soon as the camera was put away. In addition to great tea, they had these gigantic scones with cream and strawberries. I didn't even need the mini sandwiches, I could have just eaten a platter full of scones! Penny had fun drinking water out of her little tea cup while the adults cautiously looked on preparing for her to push the cup off the table. But luckily, she was a good little girl and there was no broken china at our table that day. It always amazes me when they bring out the 3-tiered tray how much food i

A Princess Birthday

I have Moses to thank for all the great people in my life. I really do! When I was pregnant I used to walk Moses around the neighborhood to get exercise (I still do). That is when I met 5 ladies who also had dogs, who also happened to be pregnant. We all got together and formed a mommy club as a result. Ironically, we all had girls around the same time. And those girls are all 3 years old now! Two of the girls were born a few days apart so their moms throw them a joint birthday party this past weekend at Griffith Park. Complete with pony rides. Here is a picture of the girls all grown up. What trouble are they going to cause us a few years from now? :)

Friday Night Lights

Moses and I's better half ditch us for Disneyland again with the girl, so we are doing what every mother and fur-baby do...eating pizza and sipping cocktails and watching trashy soap operas. Mo is stunned by the recent events on the Bold and the Beautiful.

Crowned Cuties

Bunny Butt

This cracks me up!

Paging Mrs. Kravitz

I think, in my old age of nearly 40, I am turning into Mrs. Kravitz. Remember that crazy lady from Bewitched? Or perhaps not. I'm always amazed that there are people out there that don't know what Star Wars is let alone a reference from Bewitched. Simply said the world is starting to bother me like it bothered crotchty Mrs Kravitz. I joined this neighbor social site called Nextdoor. It is like Facebook for your neighbors. Instead of "Like" there is "Thank." Similar yet different.  If you thought Facebook was full of complainers you should get on Nextdoor! There is all kinds of complaing on this site and they take it to another level. Moreover, if someone doesn't like what you say, they can report your comment as inappropriate which someone did to me today hence, my foul mood. My bad, I decided to jump in a conversation about dog poop. I happened to make a Forrest Gumplike comment of "Shit happens" when I get an email from the administrator.

Mombie

Some days…I feel like this…especially on Monday's.

Guess Who?

Now this is a Disneyland celebrity sighting! (Photo credit: Friends of friends took the picture this past weekend). Can you guess who this is?

Random Act of Kindness

My husband and daughter just got home from spending the day at DL. She was asleep in his arms, as he carried her into the house. Clutched in her arms was the stuffed animal "Bullseye" from Toy Story. I asked hubby if he won it for her and that's when he shares this story.....He explains he and my 3 yr old daughter were at California Adventure today when she asked to play the carnival game where you shoot water from a gun. All the positions were taken. Before the game started my hubby tried to brace my daughter by telling her there was a chance she might not win the game but she wanted to play anyway. So she plays and doesn't win. As expected, she starts crying in disappointment. My husband picks her up and walks away. A few minutes later a man taps my husband on the back and he asks if he can give his stuffed animal that he won to my daughter. To this man, who offered kindness, I thank you a million times over. You really made my daughters day MAGICAL. Thank you kind

Little Green Lie

I just blatantly lied to Penny and I can't believe I got away with it! I made grilled salmon with olive oil, lemon and a ton of parsley. She likes salmon but took one look at the green parsley and said those words every mom fears "I don't want it." With only a few seconds of convincing time (before the item is pushed away and never eaten) I somehow spit out the words "the salmon isn't green." I just straight up denied there was any green on the fish. She looked at me for a second and took a bite and took another. She made noises I took as her enjoying it. She requested more but specifically asked for "no green parts" so I did what any mom would do and mushed it up and said again with confidence that the salmon wasn't green. She ate a second huge helping.

Penny-isms

At 3 years, 3 months. #1 quote…"I'm scared" ...when it's time to go to bed. Which is ironic as she is the least afraid person I know. Other phrases... "Penny do." "Mommy do." "Daddy do." "Mom, slow down and be patient." "I need privacy." "I'm beautiful." "You're not my best friend." "You're are my best friend." Penny loves Costco chocolate muffins, pizza rolls, broccoli, carrots, melon, purple grapes, ice cream and in and out burgers. Likes cold water. Will eat carrots over fries. She likes to spit. She is OCD about clothing. She likes to layer clothes. Shorts or skirts over leggings and two shirts. Likes her Disney pink crocs the best. Other shoes allow for things to get in. Hated ski boots. Will let me put a ponytail on her only for swimming. Will wear goggles because other kids have them. Likes dresses. Refuses to wear gloves in the snow. She's in swim, music, and gym c

Gentrification of My Hood

Our new neighborhood park rocks! Take note fellow neighborhoods, see what u can do with an old gas station. Even better it's right next door to some good breakfast eats. This gentrification stuff is pretty neat!

McFarland

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie where the audience clapped and cheered the minute the credits rolled. Good Flick. A rare find in a sea of blockbuster crap. ‪#‎MovieMagic‬

8th Anniversary

German pancakes with fruit.  8 gifts and 8 notes.    Bronze vinylmation.  Disneyland.    Listened to Dapper Dans sing.  Road fire truck and rang bronze bell. Used autograph book for first time. Got first face painting aka Elsa themed. Stalled autotopia car.  Trader Sam cocktails.  Two little girls.  Beads and necklaces.  Long straw sword fight.  No dinner but 24 layer chocolate at Steakhouse 55.  Walk downtown Disney.  Listen to weird grassroots band. Another great thing about Disney...they let you take your kids to the bar...bottoms up. We went to Steakhouse 55 for the cake, and the cake alone. 24 layers of chocolate, dark chocolate and nutella! Yum!

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th Anniversary to me! I've always found the 13th to be lucky for me. 8 years lucky so far. oxoxo to babe! Love you!

Times Are A Changing

Karma has been on my mind a lot lately, mostly because the very people who made my life a living hell have recently found themselves in the position they put me in a year and a half ago, out of a job. I don't celebrate in people loosing their jobs but it is nice to know that if you spew evil into the world and purposely try to hurt people that the world takes care of you eventually. Speaking of jobs, I think my job is coming to an end. It's not a surprise...I am, after all, been living in a freelancer's world. Yep, I once again find myself in a weird limbo-ish situation at work which only comes around when something is about to change and in my experience, it's not usually for the better, it usually means something is going to end. Unlike like previous times I have felt this, I am not worried. I am not sure if this is a sign of getting older and wiser because lately, I have felt really old (must be my impending 40th birthday which is causing me to think about agin

She Has Her Mother's Mustache

Today I caught up with Auntie Sue and Molly at Gluten Free restaurant I found. I thought it might be nice if Sue could be able to eat anything on the menu and I was right, she enjoyed the place very much especially, the cinnamon bagles. Guess they make the gluten ones in Detroit a little bit drier. :) While we were waiting for the westsiders to arrive, Daddy took Penny on a little walk and she discovered a vending machine. You remember those little machines with toys in plastic eggs? Well, Penny discovered one with the oddest toys in them. The only thing appropriate for her was the mustache one. Most mustaches I have played with have been black but Penny got this brown one and we had a lot of fun playing with it. I think it goes a lot better with our blonde hair, don't you think?
