Out of Commission

My tough 6 foot 1 hubby has broken his right foot. Seems kickball was a bit too rough this week and as he was sliding home, some player threw a ball at him which somehow made him kick the ground thus shattering some bones in his foot. Of course, we didn't find this out until last night at Urgent Care. My hero went to work yesterday, I am not sure how since he could barely walk. I guess he thought since I refuse to go to the doctor for my stomache he would refuse to go for his foot. But there is a big difference the doctors don't ever help me and he his foot may be damaged. But by midday yesterday, he agreed he should go have a doctor look at his foot and told me he would go to Urgent Care near his work. He called me about 7pm and said he needed to come home and have me drive him to the doctor so they can put a splint on his foot. So back to urgent care we go. We left with a perscription, two new crutches, bandaged foot in a splint and a xray that we had to check out to

First Movie Club

So for those of you dying to know, the first movie club event was a success! The hub themed his food around comfort food a.k.a. food that mom would cook if you were coming back from Vietnam (fried chicken bites with dipping sauces, cold macaroni and cheese squares, chili cheese fries and mini meatloaf on cracker bites). I decided to add some fruit into the mix and cut up a bunch of oranges from our tree in the back yard. After a few hours of catching up with friends over food and beers we found out the latest. Did you guys know Jung is moving to Vegas! Yep, at the end of May he departs California for the the suburbs of Vegas to rent a house? It also seems that the Bosgul are going to jump out of a plane to get married (ok, I am not sure if this will really happen but it was discussed - with the "Gul" part of the the duo voting yes and "Bos" voting no way). I so want to plan a Chapstick themed wedding shower for them when they decide for sure (see the bride is

The Making of Movie Club

Brad Pitt has Fight Club and we have Movie Club. This weekend marks the first (of hopefully many) movie club nights. Now you are probably thinking what the hell is movie club? Well, I will tell you but it has nothing to do with soap or fighting (I hope). A couple of months ago some pals came over to the house to watch the Oscars. As we sat and watched, we all kinda came to the realization of two things. That a) we don't see much of each other anymore and b) we don't see that many movies anymore. As we all pretty much have been fond of movies since we were kids a little idea was born. That idea was to get together once a month and watch a good movie. Lots of rules were discussed amongst the boys which involved voting rights and when to take a pee break and when talking is permitted. But basically here is the gist. The members of Movie Club each take turns hosting movies at their places. They select a movie from a list. The list is comprised of each member's 3 wishes.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of

And the winner is 1080092!

Last night the hub and I went to ONE SUNSET for a Cannes Kick Off party one of my shipping vendors was throwing. Cannes, if you don't know, is a city in France that hosts "the biggest" film festival of the year. Anybody who is anybody in entertainment goes to be seen. A good part of my work week has been dedicated to finishing artwork that will be plastered all over the city and anywhere in shooting distance of a photographers camera, to promote my studio's films. To be honest, I was on the fence about going to this party but at 5:54 PM, two co-workers stopped by my office and ask if I was going. I hemmed and hawed until the co-workers asked if I had heard about the prizes they were giving away. Normally the prizes at these things are cheesy but when they said they were giving away airline tickets and a lot of them, I quickly answered "Yes, I will go." So I got in the car, called the hubby, and told him to meet me there. As I drove to WeHo (that&#

The Web We Weave

The cool thing about getting older is watching all my dear friends find success in their lives. Whether it's getting their first big break, getting a great job or doing something they have always wanted to do. In college, my friends and I were struggling with studies and worrying about finding the right job. Didn't have any money except for a few dollars to buy a burger or a slice of pizza. Then in our twenties, we found a job but it wasn't what we expected and suffered. We ate value meals. Then by our late twenties it looked like we finally knew where we wanted to go but had to start over. This allowed us to eat at chain restaruants. And now, as we move into our thirties, I start to see that little web life weaves take shape. A little more success along with non-chain restaurants and we are on our way. Last night I caught up with my good friend and college roommate, Carmen. Some of you who went to Hawaii with us last year might remember her as the girl with the gorge

How Was Your Weekend?

Does a Monday morning ever go by without someone asking you how your weekend was? I got to work and was bombarded with the question and this week I didn't have a thing to say. Didn't feel good the whole weekend so we did nothing except managed to go grocery shopping, make a trip to Target and watch several epsiodes of Quantum Leap and Battlestar Gallactica. I found that when you don't have anything to say it's good to have at least a change in your appearance to deflect the pitty looks for not having done anything on your weekend. Luckily, I had a new hair cut and color job so I was able to skip the fact that I didn't have any exciting plans to report. Last week I awoke with that I can't this hair anymore attitude and booked an appointment. I went back to bright blonde as opposed to darker blonde with brown streaks I had for the wedding. It was refreshing to go get your hair done after spending the weekend in pain. Luckily for me, the new hair color must hav
