I Splurged...

...on baby fashion. This morning I ordered my diaper bag from Nordies!! I am sooooo excited about it! Every year for my birthday I get a gift card to Nordies from a good friend and for a while, I had no idea what to do with it. I don't usually shop at Nordies much but as the years passed I have now come to really embrace the Nordies gift card now that I have discovered their shoe and purse departments! I now have a tradition each birthday to look for a new purse or pair of shoes that I normally wouldn't buy. In my current state, I am not up to wearing high heels nor do I really need a new purse so my attention turned to another department, the baby department. And that is when I discovered the diaper bags.

The moms on my forum were talking about "the best" diaper bags and two names unfamiliar to me popped up. According to these ladies, a gal just needs to get a Petunia Pickle Bottom or JuJu Be diaper bag. I googled the names to see what all the fuss was about and it looked like some high falutin' bag to me. But then, I noticed they could be bought at Nordies (and I just so happened to have a fresh gift card ready to be run through the credit machine) so I took another peak at these fancy bags and after looking at all the varies shapes, sizes and features, I just fell in love with this diaper bag!!!

Called the Petunia Pickle Bottom Cake - Hampton Holdall Diaper Bag...

The name alone, "Cake" reminded me of a tea party (the ones I used to have with my grandma) and all the tea parties I am gonna have with "my daughter." (I can't help but love saying the word "daughter." I think I have told everyone this week about "my daughter.") Not to mention, the bag will forever remind me of all the great pieces of red velvet cake I have eaten lately (thank you, Sprinkles, Larchmont Bungalow and hubby's sushi red velvet cake).

Anyhow, it's such a splurge, but I think us girls need to treat ourselves every once in a while. I am not going to be buying any high falutting shoes or purses for a while so why not splurge for a diaper bag which I will be using for 3 years!! Anyhow, I can't wait to get it!!!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
