Incredible

Penny has discovered a new Disney movie. Can you guess which one? The girl has seen a ton of Disney movies but we never got around to The Incredibles because it felt like an older kid movie. That is until this week. She watched it on a Monday and I kid you not, we have seen it seven times since Monday. I think I am now sick of that movie. Incredibly sick of that movie.

New Project

The hubs and I have started a new project. We called the contractor who remodeled our kitchen and had him come out for a chat. After two hours, we find ourselves starting a few home projects. First we are going to remodel our bonus room behind the garage, second, we are going to add a deck off the gargage, and lastly, we are going to redo our front porch and swap out the very old wood front door that is falling apart. We signed the contract last night and work begins this Monday. We love our kitchen remodel and we are hoping these new projects will add even more awesome space to our house.

Ice Cream Please

My daughter loves ice cream and asks for it all the time. The other night after I got home from work, Penny asks me for ice cream. I tell her no, because we have to eat dinner first. In her toddler, 3 yr old way, she continues to ask me for the ice cream for the next 20 minutes...until my patience wears thin and I tell her not to ask me again. I go in the kitchen and start to make dinner. About 10 minutes into my dinner prep when Penny comes into the kitchen holding the collar of her shirt. She strokes her collar a bit telling me she is hot. "Mom, I'm so hot. So very hot....I need ice cream." ...cue me laughing my head off.

The Year of Surprises

2015 is shaping up to be the year of surprises. First, I receive an invitation for a baby shower for one of my friends…the only thing…I didn't know she was pregnant, as in 7 months pregnant! Second, I get the mail one Saturday afternoon, two weeks ago and there in the mail is a red envelope. I open it and find out that the Maid of Honor in my wedding had eloped in December on the slopes of Utah. It wasn't unexpected but I was still surprised. Being surprised has sort of been the theme of my life this past year. There is a line in a movie that I worked on, that also sums up this theme. Staring Nicole Kidman, she says "I wonder what exciting will happen next?" The line has been a running joke between my boss and I because of the unexpectedness of our work situation. I've taken that line and pretty much am running with it in my personal life as well. For once in my life, I don't know what happens next and I am not scared about it. It's really quite ref

A Most Unexpected Encounter

My dog, Moses, has his own Facebook page and enjoys writing about his adventures in our neighborhood. Here is an excerpt from his feed this past week................. My mom is currently running around saying OMG over and over. I am not kidding she is. We just had the wildest, most dramatic, adventure/encounter on our morning walk ever...I mean I don't think my mom can get over it...she just ran in the bedroom and told dad. What happened? Well, here is the story. We leave our house and come upon a house that is covered in trees. It starts raining leaves, clearly something just happened up in the branches, what I don't know. Mom and I approach and I take a lunge, jerking mom. Before Mom knows it we are standing in front of (and this is her words not mine) a f-ing large bird with a squirrel in its mouth. It was probably a bald eagle but my mom, who is sick as a dog and taking Nyquil, says it could have been a velociraptor for all she knew. Basically, it was the largest bird sh

Pass The NyQuil Please

I'm sick and it's no fun.

Look Who Is A Card Carrying Passholder

Today we purchased Penny a Disneyland annual pass good for the next 365 days. Gone are the days of free entry and free meals. We had a great year of Disney. We had so much fun we had to renew.  Today's Disneyland visit was a day of the friend met up. We meet up with the La Scalas (unfortunate Penny wasn't feeling good which leas to our first trip to Disney's First Aid Station), then we met up with the Mares for the parade, and then we met up with the Forsgren's for our annual steak dinner at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel. Running into Snow White For dessert, we had the most amazing 24 layer chocolate cake.

Happy New Year 2015!

This year hubby and I were lucky to have two weeks off from work together. We were able to spend some time together, time with his family, and go on a mini-vacation to San Francisco. We returned from our Christmas adventure last evening just in time for the New Year to ring in. As I move forward into a new year, there are a few goals I would like to shoot for. 1. Waste less food - I found myself throwing a lot away last year and its my goal to waste less. 2. Eat better - So I got off track of taking care of my diabetes. My goal for the new year to to get back to being focused and eating less sugar. I was eating too many sweets which is so not good for me. But sometimes a girl just doesn't want to count carbs. 3. Exercise by doing something fun - I walk Moses in th morning but I think I need to do more. I often find that my knees and legs ache. I was doing a little bit of Yoga with Penny and I liked it a lot. 4. Make more dinners - Use all those recipes I've
