Today was a Good Day

I've come full circle in my career.  In 1992, I got a job at a movie theatre.   Today, in 2017, I walked into a movie theatre in Monrovia, saw my standee in the lobby by the box office and took my seat in the theatre only to see the words Rated R for "Violence and Peril" which peaked my interest because wasn't those the words used to describe my movie?  Then sure enough I see my company's logo and then the trailer played and it was my movie!   Best yet, after the trailer played a women said loudly, "I want to see that!"  Can you say, sweet! Today was a good day!

10 Years of Blogging

So now that I am interested in my blog again. I'm doing the obligatory theme page change and cleaning things up I have discovered that I have been writing for 10 years! August 2007 was my first post!  10 friggin' years!  Wow! Double Wow!   The one thing I am impressed with now that I have logged back into Blogger is that they are finally allowing bloggers to make paragraphs!  I never used to be able to make a paragraph and it bugged the shit out of me!  So excuse me while I go back and fix some entries....10 years worth!

Life Moves Pretty Fast

What was that line from Ferris Bueller's Day off?   " Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."   My friend, Toby posted one of my old blogs on FB, prompting me to click to my blog. That's when I saw that the last post was over six months old!  Life moved pretty fast and I missed posting about it which is weird for a documentarian like me. So what do I have to tell you?  What has happened in 6 months? I think the reason I stopped writing is because our latest election cycle made me depressed about the world.  Plus, it got to the point where I didn't want to talk about politics anymore.  So like a lot of FB friends, I just stopped and have been watching the horror in silence.  Everyday a new news story to get you mad. I just didn't want to feel lousy anymore, so I stopped.  Also, the Blogger App I was using on my phone disappeared and there is no way to post anymore without getting out the laptop o

A Disney Convention

I think by this point, it's pretty well established that we are a Disney family.  So naturally, we needed to attend the bi-annual D23 Expo in Anaheim when it came to town at the Anaheim Convention Center.  I took two days off from work.  Kiddo and I headed down a day before it started to have ourselves a Pool Day at the Hotel.   I don't think I have ever stayed at a hotel so much to say I am a fan but I consider myself a fan of the Mariott Convention Center Hotel.   Their customer service is outstanding, I love their pool, the rooms are nice and clean and the food at the restaurants is really good for what it is.  So it was a no brainer that we stay there. It helped that a deal came up on Trip Advisor that I snagged that saved me a ton of money then booking directly with Mariott. This summer I had a couple of movies to work on so I didn't have a carefree summer like the last two.  So it was important for me to find time to spend with kiddo even though it wasn't as muc

Fourth of July - Pismo Beach Trip

P awoke at 4am the day of our road trip to Pismo Beach and she said her tummy ached.  I thought she was just hungry and gave her some food.   She still complained so I gave her some bubbly and then she threw up.  When we awoke she was still not feeling well.  One problem though, we had a non-refundable hotel room and it was really expensive.   So even though it was hard we loaded the car up and added our sick child.  The first 45 minutes were horrible.  It didn't look like it was going to be a great trip.  But then P fell asleep for the remainder of the trip.   And by some miracle when she woke up she felt better and was able to eat without throwing up!  I am not sure what she had but was grateful the bug went away when we arrived at our destination.  Five years prior, Penny was 7 months old when we took her and Moses to Pismo Beach for the Fourth of July.  The thing I remember about that trip was Hub's shaved head!  He was basically bald! Since our neighborhood has turned
