Great Balls of Sushi!

Tonight was the perfect ending to a holiday weekend that I spent working. Don't get me wrong, I had a nice Thanksgiving but it totally sucks when work gets in the way. Apparently high profile movies don't take a break for the holidays! Anyway, bitterness aside, I took the last few hours of this Sunday to myself and me alone. I popped in Sex in the City, the movie, courtesy of the $3.99 bin at Target on Black Friday and revelled in my girl time. Of course, when I watched the Valentine's Day scene with Samantha, naked, covered in sushi, it made me totally crave sushi. Normally I save my cravings for the weekdays with co-workers because the hubby hates fish. But in my quest to do what I want, I told hubby I needed to have sushi. I just needed it and he would have to bear with me and eat his chicken terriyaki. My hubby is much better at not complaining than I will ever be so he said "sure why not." And to inform you of just how good of a husband he is, he

A Laos Wedding

The Hub's Cousin, Alan, whom I found out is really named Charles (who knew?) married his sweetheart Nithsavath recently and here are some pictures to share. This was the traditional Laos Wedding Ceremony and after Christmas there will be an American Style Wedding.

It's Christmas Time in the City!

The hubby hung our very first set of outdoor Christmas lights on the house today! We're ready for Santa to land on our roof and leave us presents!! Our boy, Mo features the latest in Christmas dog collars. Thanks Target for outfitting our dog for the holiday season! Thanks Pottery Barn for still carrying the red/green stockings so that Moses could match mommy and daddy! And even better, thank you for having free monogramming and shipping this week! With the stockings all hung by the fireplace we are all ready for Santa! Mo is tired from all the Christmas decorating and we have only just begun!

Dreading It.... But Somehow Still Inspired

There is no doubt about it...I am dreading this week. I am not dreading it because of Thanksgiving but rather the days up to Thanksgiving at work. Basically we are in crazy production mode at work trying to get a million items printed and shipped in time so they arrive overseas for the big holiday movies opening up. I think I am working on 10 different movie posters right now, a couple of standees and a mobile. I am dreading this week because I am waiting to see if I have to print a poster over Thanksgiving and the holiday part is only part of it. The drama part is the political part and that is what is stressing me out. Oh well, always a fun time at work. At least being busy is better than being bored like a few months ago when we didn't have any films to work on. A happy medium would be nice and better for my blood pressure. Enough of work. The dreading part of the title was work, the inspiring part of the title was due to a movie I saw recently called Julie and

I Lived to Tell Another Tale

....so I survived the swine flu or what I think was the swine flu. They don't test you unless you are either preggers, a child or an elderly person. I was none of those so I didn't get tested. I was confined to the couch Wed, Thurs and Friday and then on Saturday I felt like I could get off the couch and went to the grocery store to get more flu medicine. On Sunday I was able to go shopping at Costco and managed to get 40% of my christmas shopping done. But I was really tired when I got home. Today, I went to work and I am feeling about 70% back to normal. The the other 30% involves mucus oozing around in my head. That mucus is currently giving me a sinus headache. Long hot showers seem to help but this was the first time the flu medicine didn't really seem to be effective other than knocking me out for a few hours to sleep. Luckily, the sniffling, sneezing and fever are gone. I must say the mighty power of blue gatorade got me through this flu. Being sick

I Am Not Busy But My Family Is

...Other than taking up residence on the couch there really isn't much going on with me. October was so crazy that I believe the "relaxing gods" are giving me a break via the swine flu. Despite my sickness the world is turning and burning and it seems at least in my family that there is a lot of celebrating going on this month. Take a look at what's going on... 1. My sister-in-law Kate had this huge baby shower in Michigan. My nephew to be, only has 2 1/2 more months to go before he can come out the of the oven. 2. My cousin-in-law, is that a word??, got married this weekend. He married a Laos woman whose name I am constantly trying to remember how to spell N-i-t-h-s-a-v-a-t-h) and they had the first of two marriage ceremonies this past weekend. Thanks to Facebook I was able to see Alan's purple wedding pants and I gotta know why purple? Must be good luck or something? Anyhoo, the Laos part was this past weekend. The other ceremony is a few days after x

Swine

I have the flu. Not sure if it is the swine but I feel like I have been run over by a ton of bricks! Been at home sick 2 days. At least now I know what Moses does all day when we work. He basically sleeps till 4:30PM and then looks out the windows!! He's been a very good nurse to me though. Hope this goes away soon.

Gearing up for the Holidays

When You're Not Looking....

Life gets busy!! Work is once again crazy hectic. We didn't have any movies to work on for the 4th quarter so August till the beginning of October was slow. You know its slow when the President of your division tells everyone to take a vacation and use their built up time. I was able to use four days myself. Two for a long weekend in Palm Springs and two for a long weekend with my parents who came to visit from Michigan. Then about two weeks ago all the movies for 1st quarter 2010 kicked in. We have a movie ever month starting in January till July. Suffice to say, I have been trying to make miracles happen to get posters, standees, banners, etc up into theatres overseas for Christmas. It's not easy when half of the art is not done and you are waiting on approvals. Well, life at work has changed yet again. We are working more closely with the US Creative team so that has meant a ton of meetings. I suddenly find my days explaining why we need something so qu

Moses Goes to the Dog Zone

We took to Moses to the lake in Big Bear and when my parents disembarked form their cruise ship from the Mexican Riveria, in Long Beach, the grandparents, the hubby and I took Moses to the ocean. It was his first time going to a Southern California Beach. He had a ton of fun in the Dog Zone. Residents of Long Beach petitioned the city to have an area of the beach blocked off just for dogs. Moses got to run free and meet several other dogs. You oculd tell he was having a good time by the big grin on his face. I have never seen that dog run so much. He was completely wore out on the way home. We will have to take our energetic little guy there more often!

Halloween Fun

The hub and I took Moses trick or treating aka we walked around our neighborhood (for his nightly walk) all decked out in our costumes. Moses was of course, a cute pumpkin head, Hubby was a Pirate and I was Tinkerbell. The few people we ran into loved our Moses! Later that night the Pirate and Tink went to Hollywood. One of my vendors throws a big costume party every year. The 19th Annual Costume Party was at a club called Empire. FUN FACT: The first time I made out with the Hubby was at the 13th Annual Halloween Party and guess what? We got married on the 13th.
