Father's Day

This Father's Day I took hubs and kiddo to Afternoon Tea at The Huntington Langham Hotel. As it was Sunday, it was a chocolate tea. I was thinking where could I go where Daddy and Penny could both eat and of course, we all know little girl's love chocolate so hence the tea. Putting on our Sunday best we drove to the hotel after swim class and we have fun walking around the hotel and the lovely grounds. We were seated at a little table for three right by a big tower of chocolate. I could see immediately that Penny wanted to run her fingers through the tall tower of oozing chocolate but decorum prevailed. We immediately went to the chocolate bar and ate all kinds of sweets. We partook in chocolate flavored tea and we ate a ton forgetting that we also had a platter of sandwiches and scones coming so suffice to say, by the time we were done eating we were completely full. Good thing they have such lovely grounds to look at so we could wear some of the calories off. After

Ugg, I Am At UnEase!

After loosing my gallbladder due to stress at work I decided to not worry about things anymore. Taking the attitude "Whatever happens, happens." It's a pretty good attitude I think and I have been living by it until this current bend in the road. The bend is my work and my work is not stable which didn't bother me until a few months ago. I knew when I was hired it could end at any time so when tough times came my co-workers worried but I didn't. Then things started to look even more grim in May and day in and day out I would listen to people say how the end was imminent and we would all have the summer off. Since it was looking like the end I found myself daydreaming about my summer and all the things I would do with my child. Flash forward to mid-June and I find myself in the weirdest of limbos with my summer vacation starting to wither away and preschool getting nearer and nearer. I feel like time is slipping away. As a result, I find myself completely fr

Preschool Test Run

So for the past few months hubs and I have been touring preschools, trying to find the perfect fit for Miss Penny. When I was a kid you used to be able to go to the school down the street but in LA there are so many choices and if you listen to "certain moms" there are only a few choices that you must consider or risk being ostracized in the mom community. The hardest part of navigating schools is in fact other moms. All moms have an opinion on what you as a mom should do. It not okay to go to the school down the street anymore. You have to go to the BEST school. And in today's world that is a bi-lingual school, school's with the proper philosophy or "thee" school's a.k.a. "expensive" schools some moms think are the key to getting their kid into Harvard. Everyone always asks what schools you've toured and heaven forbid you looked at one that wasn't good or you get a terrible look of scorn. Every school has been bad mouthed by s

Six Year Anniversary

I love this dog with my whole heart and soul...that is how special he is to me. He's not only a best friend but family, a son, a baby. He's been the catalyst in meeting new friends, neighbors and he has given us memories of experiences we never would have had if we didn't have him. He is a joy, a love and a pal. He is a gentle and chill soul. He loves his treats and his walks and he loves to put his head in between our knees. He gives us kisses and whacks on the legs to make sure we know he wants to be rubbed. He hates water. Hates fetching. But he loves people. He even makes friends out of people who r scared of dogs. He is something special our dog Moses. This month is our 6 year anniversary with Moses aka Mo, MoMo, Moey, and Pumpkin Head. Forever grateful to Pryor Jf and Nikki Audet for saving him. Their single act of compassion has changed our lives for the better. Hats off to the wonderful work they do. Angels on earth those two.
