Happy Howl-o-ween!

We hope everyone has a Spooktacular Halloween! This Halloween was pretty low-key for us, with no big parties but we still managed to have some fun. Saturday night we went to a costume dog party at Moses' daycare. It was pretty cool to see all the dogs dressed up for Halloween. There was a dog dressed in a butterfly costume, a dog dressed as Johnny Depp from "Pirates of the Caribbean," a bumblebee, Santa, Spiderdog, Superwoman, the headless horseman, and many more. They not only had some great treats for the dogs but the daycare had food for the adults too. There were even games like "Bobbing For Wieners." I didn't think Moses would stick his head in the tub of water because he generally shys away from water but apparently, if there is a hot dog in the water he will stick his head in! Moses visited with a lot of dog friends before the contest for best costume took place. Moses won a prize for having "The Best Large Dog Costume" (for bein

Beeen Lovin' Me Some College Football

I can't believe how well Michigan State is doing this season!!! I haven't watched so much football in such a long time. 7-0 baby!! And the best part, we beat our longtime rival Michigan!! On to Iowa next week! Could my Spartans win a national championship or at least come out to the Rose Bowl? It's been an interesting season!

Creepy Crawlies

I have been informed by my mother, that my youngest nephew, William is crawling. It's a huge moment. It's so huge that my mother talked about it in length to me twice this week. Grandmothers...they are creepy. In other funny news, in preparation for our upcoming Disney World Trip, I asked my family to pick out their favorite Disney characters. Here is what I got: Rich (Dad) = Goofy Hubby = Dumbo Will (nephew)= Mickey Mouse Linda (Mom)= Daffy Duck Kate (Sista in law)= Belle Me = Tinkerbell Matt (Brother)= Pete from the Mickey Mouse Club My response: 1. Um, Mom, Daffy Duck is a Warner Bros character, you will not see this character at Disney. 2. Um, Matt, who the hell is Pete? Upon asking him to select a more common character or rather a non-human, recognizable character, my brother says his alternative choice is the broom from Fantasia. Really, the broom from Fantasia? Clearly, he is my mother's child.

Spotting "The Fly" at the Theater

I love making awesome discoveries and for me, the Mark Taper Forum can be classified as an awesome discovery! Last night, hubby and I were very lucky to catch the very last performance of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie." In short, it was awesome! The actors' performances were amazing! The theater itself was amazing AND..... I had an amazingly good time! If you are a theater buff like me and you haven't been to Mark Taper, all I can say is.... you just have to go! Why? Well, not only is the theater easy to get into and out of (considering it's in Downtown LA and all), but the theater itself is intimate and pretty much every seat in the theater has a great view. It's like you are in the play yourself! Did I mention the reasonable prices? Hubby and I sat in the second row, that is arms length away from real live actors and paid $30 for a seat (well we didn't really pay as the tickets were a gift but still $30 ea is cheap for theater

FOOD REVIEW: Celebrating A Birthday @ Season's 52

I have to say, I had a really enjoyable dinner at Season's 52 the other night. And by enjoyable, I mean I had a great time eating their food. The "big thing" about this place is that all of the items on the menu are under 475 calories each. Which sounds super duper cool but when you order cocktails, appys, entrees and desserts how many calories are you really saving? Hum? But I appreciate that they are conscious of calories and I applaud them for not serving overly large portions. My waist line thanks you. Anyhoo, the food I tried was really, really good. When I heard that all the items on the menu were under 475 calories each, I am not going to lie, I thought all I was going to get was some healthy crap with no taste. I was wrong. Seasons 52 has a great selection of food from sandwiches, to pastas, to fish, to burgers, to salads and more. It was actually quite hard to choose just one thing. Ultimately, what caught my eye, was a cup of chicken corn tortilla

Celebrating Caroline's Birthday Without Her

Every year, I must go to Disneyland at least once and lately, I have had the itch so bad that it was getting irritating. The last time I had been was for my 34th birthday. So I used one of my vacation days and took the day off from crazy ole work. I enlisted some fellow mouse lovers and we headed to Disneyland. My hook up got us reservations at Club 33, the exclusive club in Disneyland that only has 400 members. The waiting list is so long that even if some freak accident happened and all 400 members died, you and I would still never be able to become a member in our life times. The friends who came along for the ride were "Loop Doggy Dog," otherwise known as Lisa, "The Jefmeister" aka Jeff and finally, "The Doctor" aka Kristy who just recently got her Doctorate in Marine Biology. Then there was me, "Kelldog." We got to Disney which was decorated for Halloween. The place was even more festive than it normally is! We had just enough time

Good Grief!

So my boss just calls me and tells me he was forced to quit. Suffice to say the contract negogaitions did not go well. Looks like his boss from London is coming to Los Angeles. Looks like its another bumpy ride. Let's see how many bosses have I had in the last 4 years? Hum. Fun times ahead. I am so not looking forward to next week. Good thing I am going to Disneyland tomorrow. Maybe I can pick up some Pixie Dust for luck. Wish me well.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Today, Brokencandy shouts out a very happy birthday to Michael Jung! All of his friends are very happy he has returned to Los Angeles from the far out reaches of Las Vegas! He has gotten a job at the online company called EVITE and is making all kinds of new innovations. So make sure the next time you have a party you use EVITE and support our friend Jung! Here is a picture from his surprise birthday party the other evening at Cantalini's in Westwood. The Birthday boy is just about to blow out his birthday tiramasu. One birthday down a few more to go in October!

She's Having A Baby!

One of my bridesmaids, Mindy called me the other day at work and told me she had something to tell me. I got chills right before she told me she is having a baby. I am so excited for her and her hubby! I bet her mom is super excited as this will be her first grandchild. Today she wrote to me and told me she had found out she is having a baby girl on Feb 15th. I am so excited that one of my friends is having a girl! That means dress shopping! It's been nothing but boys for me lately so I am happy to be able to shop in the pink department. Congrats Mindy and Fred!

A Chinese Wedding

I went to my first Chinese Wedding Reception today. This wedding deserves special distinction because not only was it my first Chinese Reception but it is the first wedding I have ever attended on a Sunday. My friend, Amy married her ballroom dance partner, Larry, in the Pacific Palisades earlier in the day and then later, we attended the Chinese Reception at NBC Seafood in Monterey Park. The wedding was very pretty. I liked the fall flowers that decorated the charming chapel. The chapel itself was unique. It looked like a little cottage house but also a barn at the same time. The big barn doors slide open so half of the chapel was open to the outside. It made for a unique look. The inside of the chapel, if I had to guess, probably only sat about 40 people. There were just two rows of wooden benches that sat about 3 people to a bench. Amy also had seating set up off the barn doors. In all, if I had to guess, I think she had a total of 75-100 people at her wedding. Joining

The Surprise That Got Busted!

BUST is a Jungism So every October there is a Trifecta of Birthdays. There is Jung’s, Matthew’s and Caroline’s all on the 7th, 9th and 10th. Just like in May there is Jeff and Jon’s birthdays which are one day apart. It makes it very hard to properly celebrate each person’s birth when they are so close together. The only person out of the five mentioned above that doesn’t usually have some kind of celebratory event is Jung. So this year, as Toby, Danielle and I were driving back from Vegas we thought it would be nice to throw Jung a surprise party. The topic came up because we all had received Matthew’s birthday invitation and we got to talking about birthdays and wondered what Jung was doing. It just so happened that Toby had previously asked all of us to hang out on Oct 2 so we thought this would be the perfect date to surprise Jung whose birthday is on the 7th. So there in began a bunch of emails of what to do, who to invite and where to do it at. We ultimately deci
