Disappointment

So I was truly stunned when the results on Prop #8 came in on Wednesday and the majority of the voters agreed to pass that stupid measure. I can't believe I live in a state that would amend the constitution and take rights away people. I thought if we could vote a black man into office we could also help gays. But I guess the majority of people in California aren't open to gays yet. Women had to fight to get the vote so I guess gays will have to fight longer too. But really people, I would have thought we would be more opened minded by now. I guess I was wrong.

When I came here from Michigan I must say I hadn't met a gay person (well, one that was out). Then I met several and you know what? They are no different except they happen to have feelings for the same sex. That's it people. I guess loving the same sex is "scary" for those "yes voters." If these "yes voters" were suddenly told they couldn't be married anymore because being single was the new thing, I am sure they would understand the plight of gays.

Gays want the same rights as us man/women relationship people. If you have ever truly loved a person you would know you can't help loving that person. In my opinion, you can't chose who you love, it just happens. And all people should be free to love who they want. I don't feel the government should tell people who to love. Its really none of their business. I would like people to look at the world as "Citizens of Earth." At the end of the day, we are all people of earth and we should all have the same rights being we are all citizens.

If aliens came to earth right now they wouldn't see us as man/woman relationship people but they would see us earthlings. Wouldn't it be a great place if we all looked at each other as citzens of earth so we can start picking on those Klingons?

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Everyone is Having Kids

Yesterday, one of my roommates from the Burbank years gave birth to a little girl. This is her third child. While I am so completely happy for her this happy celebration has gotten me thinking about children and nosey people who ask me when I am going to have them. Some might think this subject is it too personal for blog talk but I figure if people want to bud into my business by asking me about kids then I can bud into yours by talking about them. I realize that I am physically old enough to have kids but being physically old enough isn't enough for me. Today, as I looked at my friend's blog describing her birthing experience, I realized the only reason I am thinking about children so much lately is because so many darn people are asking me about them. Every single friggin day I run into "Patty" at work. I have known her for a very long time and while I know she was super happy for me when I got married, I am so not happy about her enthusiasm about me having bab...
