Caroline Elopes!

So another one of my girlfriends (in fact my Maid of Honor in my wedding) is now off the market! Last night, night we celebrated Caroline and Minh's 12.13.14 elopement (in Park City Utah) at the truly fabulous Faith and Flower Restaurant downtown. Our party of 10 included the bride and groom, hubs and I, Amy and Larry, Jon and Danielle, Jung and Toby who came down from Northern California for the night. Faith and Flower was a really nice place, with a 1929's atmosphere and really tasty, if not incredibly expensive food. It was recommended to me by my foodie friend, Rodeline, after giving her some info about our night. After two hours of dinning family style with such dishes as Oxtail Agnolotti, Deviled Jidori Eggs, Ny Steak Tartare, Confeit Duck Leg, Grilled Broccolini, Burrata Pizza, Roasted Mushroom Pizza, Sauteed Blue Lake Green Beans, and Kanpachi Ceviche and partaking in fun drinks like the Harry Winston (think Japanese whiskey on a square block of ice) or English Milk Punch or Lemon & Thyme, we all found ourselves full, except for Regul who was partaking in a hunger strike. After dinner, the gang took some pictures next door with some expensive crystals and took selfies on this fancy couch. I am not sure what exactly the place was but we all just followed Amy who seemed to know what the place was and luckily the security guard watching the crystals didn't yell at us. Later everyone drove back to our house to have some celebratory cake, to partake in a nice 2004 Dom Perignon champaign, and to take shots of McCallan 12-Year old Fine Oak Whiskey (the groom's favorite). The evening was full of laughs, unexpected Wedding Mad Lips voiced by Regul, fun photo signs and split screen karaoke courtesy of Amy with a surprising lack of Journey songs available to sing.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
