Cravings

I have always heard women talk about their craving while pregnant but I never understood what they meant until now. I don't crave much in fact, I went from being super hungry in my first trimester to being moderately hungry in my second trimester. I do still need to eat every few hours but its not like I feel the need to shovel it in anymore. But as weeks go buy there is two foods I really do enjoy. The first is eggs. I can't seem to get enough eggs. I have been taking the croissants from Costco and and making an egg with cheese. I could eat those every morning. I don't but I could. Then I have been finding that peanut butter and raspberry jelly on croissant (toasted) is pure heaven!!! I also enjoy pepperoni pizza slices and a ton of fruit. I have eaten every berry known to mankind. I could, in fact, turn into a blueberry, like in Willy Wonka.

The one food that is totally unappetizing is CHICKEN. The very thought of chicken makes me want to vomit. Now the only exception is I think I could eat a million chicken McNuggets from McDonald's. I say think, because the billboards for the 50 piece McNugget pack look amazing each time I see them. I haven't tried it yet. I am afraid I will get one whiff and Moses will have to eat 50 McNuggets. Though I am sure he wouldn't mind.

Instead of Chicken I have been eating a lot a beef which is weird because i have spent the last few years trying to limit my beef intake and have thus eaten a ton of chicken. Another food I sometimes crave are cheeseburgers but I am not sure if that is the baby or just me. Because non-pregnant me loves cheeseburgers. I guess this kid is mine. We are sharing a love of cheeseburgers. I try not to get those too often because burger plus cheese means one full bloated belly and that sucks. When the belly is bloated it feels like I am carrying around a bowling ball!

Milk is one thing I have to drink everyday which I can't wait until it can stop! Can you say lactose intolerance? I drink skim milk which isn't too bad when I normally have it in cereal (in non-pregnancy) but now that I have to drink two large glasses a day its somewhat painful, or should I say, gassy. The only thing milk is good with I found is Oreos and Little Debbie Nutty Bars. Man, have I forgotten how good those Nutty Bars can be!!!

I have signed up for this site called WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARE EXPECTING based on that popular book everyone reads and man you should see the ladies on that forum talk about food cravings. They post pictures and everyone drools. Its like food porn. It must be what Toby feels like everyday?!?! Anyhow, the food part of pregnancy is pretty fun. I can't wait to see what this kid wants next?

When you crave cheeseburgers, do you still have to eat all the fries first??

WHY do you have to drink milk everyday? Can't you take Vitamin D and calcium supplements??

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
