There is no doubt about it...I am dreading this week. I am not dreading it because of Thanksgiving but rather the days up to Thanksgiving at work. Basically we are in crazy production mode at work trying to get a million items printed and shipped in time so they arrive overseas for the big holiday movies opening up. I think I am working on 10 different movie posters right now, a couple of standees and a mobile. I am dreading this week because I am waiting to see if I have to print a poster over Thanksgiving and the holiday part is only part of it. The drama part is the political part and that is what is stressing me out. Oh well, always a fun time at work. At least being busy is better than being bored like a few months ago when we didn't have any films to work on. A happy medium would be nice and better for my blood pressure.
Enough of work. The dreading part of the title was work, the inspiring part of the title was due to a movie I saw recently called Julie and Julia. Sounds like a chick flick right? Well, I dragged my husband to the theatre. I think he went willingly because it was only a $3 movie and we hadn't seen a movie in a while. We have this little second run place by our house that you can see a movie in the daytime for $2 bucks and a movie at night for $3. Did I mention the hotdogs are only a $1. So between the two of us we only had $6 dollars in cash and $5 dollars in quarters which at this theatre provided a whole evening of entertainment and not to mention dinner. Anyway, back to the movie. This movie is about Julia Child and a young girl named Julie, who is a wannabe writer in need of a project. By day she is a government secretary and by night she is a gal who enjoys cooking for her husband. So one night after a delicious meal her husband suggests she start a blog. Of course she asks "what about?" And that leads to food and that leads to the idea of her cooking all 524 recipes in Julia Child's revolutionary, change the world, French Cookbook. Of course the two ladies have similar lives and the movie flips flops between the time Julia discovers she is a chef and the time Julie is trying to make all of her recipes.
The movie was first of all, well constructed and the story interesting. The thing I liked about it the most is that it reinforces the fact that people should follow what they love to do and success will follow. I guess, I always have success in the back of mind. I am always pushing myself to make sure I am living up to the full potential. I am chuck full of ideas on how to do more things yet somehow it seems that I never find the time. It was fun to watch this movie and see how these two ladies who were bored with their current situation did something about it and found even more joy than they knew existed. So after seeing that movie, which not only inspired me to crack open the Julia Child cookbook I have in my own kitchen, I was inspired to find that thing that will revolutionize the world. Of course, I don't know what that is yet, but I am inspired once again to try and find out.
Anyhow, if you haven't seen this movie you should check it out. I think the men in your life will like it too as the two husbands in the movie also had interesting roles. I have to put this one on my top 10 list of Lollipop's favorite flicks this year.
