Life Moves Pretty Fast

What was that line from Ferris Bueller's Day off?
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

My friend, Toby posted one of my old blogs on FB, prompting me to click to my blog. That's when I saw that the last post was over six months old!  Life moved pretty fast and I missed posting about it which is weird for a documentarian like me.

So what do I have to tell you?  What has happened in 6 months?

I think the reason I stopped writing is because our latest election cycle made me depressed about the world.  Plus, it got to the point where I didn't want to talk about politics anymore.  So like a lot of FB friends, I just stopped and have been watching the horror in silence.  Everyday a new news story to get you mad. I just didn't want to feel lousy anymore, so I stopped.  Also, the Blogger App I was using on my phone disappeared and there is no way to post anymore without getting out the laptop or paying a fee for someones app.

Anyhow, by chance I rediscovered my blog and those urges to write something, share something, have taken over once again.   I am wondering if I have enough time to go back and write stories over the past 6 months or if I should just move forward?  Hum.

No one reads this so, I guess this is up to me.

I do love Blogger and Google because it makes it very easy to go back and see what you were doing on any given day of the year.   I love the Google Photos "rediscover this day" memories.  And I love being able to search my blog to see what events repeated.  Facebook for some reason doesn't want to give me "my memories."  Apparently, this option isn't open to everyone but it sure feels like everyone but me has it. It really pisses me off because I love reminising!

I love to document yet, I can't spell.  Oh, the irony.   Believe me, if I could spell and punctuate properly, I would.  It's just something I never learned and which, refuses to stick in my head.

Anyhow, I found a free moment to write, in the wee hours of the morning and I am taking it.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
