Coming Home

It's hard to leave P and go to work each day especially after being with her so much these past few months. I definitely feel the void now that I am at work. On the other hand, I do like my job and what I am doing. Man, this working mom thing is pretty hard. There is a lot of guilt involved. And its hard to know if you are ever doing the right thing. All I can do is hope I am doing right by her. The one thing I do love about the day is coming home and having a bit of time with Penny all to myself. Tonight we took some crazy photos and she sat in my lap for a while.

French Croissants

When I went to DisneyWorld last October, I was pleasantly surprised to find multigrain croissants for sale at the bakery. I tried one and it was just as enjoyable as a butter croissant but healthier. In my quest to eat right and boy is it ever hard sometimes, I tried looking for multigrain croissants here with no luck. So I took to the internet and found that the QVC was offering some from France. I never ordered from QVC before so I popped that cherry. The croissants arrived this week and this morning I'm gonna pop them in the oven and try them. I just love bread!  So I am so excited to have a healthier croissant version. I hope they are good!

What Do You Say?

...when faced with your nemisis? This week I printed my first poster with the new job. Inside the printers there are rooms for the clients to stay in while a job prints. The rooms are used to view color and make changes while printing. So I'm sitting in the room when my rep comes in and tells me that the person who made my life hell for a year is sitting in the room next to me and that we are currently back to back. There are big windows in these rooms facing the press room so the people in the press room can see all the clients in the waiting rooms.  I couldn't help but think that the wall between us was the line between good and evil.   We managed to not run into each other inside, although her rep, who I knew for 10 years came in to say hi to me, which was awkward and another story in itself. Instead, we ran into each other in the parking lot. I was so uncomfortable. I was faced with the choice of either letting go and telling this woman off or being civil. I decided ...

Toddler Places

One of the best places to take a budding toddler is Travel Town, in Griffith Park. For some reason children seem to love trains and this place has a ton of them. They have ones to climb on, ones to have a party in, ones to view, ones to play with, and even, one to ride. We met up with Penny's BFF, Logan the other day for a few hours of fun. It never ceases to amaze me how these two genuinely seem to miss each other. They are so excited to see one another, I often say they were once star-crossed lovers. Well, that may be a bit much but I've never seen two kids enjoy each other as much as they do. Probably has to do with they have grown up together since 4 months.

Return to the El Capitan

Today we returned to the El Capitan, for a second time, to introduce P to the Disney classic "Lady and the Tramp." We had fun in the lobby taking pictures with the interactive standee they had in their lobby. Below is a cute picture of P with her Daddy. P enjoyed her popcorn kid's tray which came with an Icee (which was her first one). But unlike other Disney movies, I think she found this one a little boring. It had too many animals and not enough princesses. She still did really well int he movie for a 2 year old but you could tell by her wandering around that it didn't captivate her like other princess themed movies.

Things Daddy's Do

Rocky Staff Meeting

P and I never really played much in our front yard but on the day we interviewed Nanny Yasmin, we found ourselves outside looking around our yard.  P discovered the tiny pebbles which I let her play in and she continued to play in them as we interviewed Nanny Yasmin. That's how I knew Yasmin would be a good Nanny because she sat right down in the rocks with P.  Apparently, our hour of fun in the rocks became a tradition, as Penny has been pulling Yasmin outside to play with the rocks. Today, she decided to bring her dolls and have a meeting of sorts in the rocks. Nanny Yasmin took this picture and I enhanced it with my Instagram skills.

My Little Valentine

On Tuesday's and Thursday's, P has been going over to our friend, Amy's house. Nanny Yasmin takes both Amy and P to a local park for playtime as we have had some beautiful summer like days of late. From this picture that Yasmin too it looks like P had some fun on a scooter. All I can think when I look at this picture is that my little girl is growing up! She looks like such a young lady here.

Valentines Day 2014

Our third Valentine's Day with Penny was relatively low key but an enjoyable one. Since we had to work today, hubby and I decided to give Penny her gifts last night so we could enjoy her opening/playing with her gifts. She of course doesn't know what Valentine's Day is yet but she had fun opening gifts none-the-less. One look at the bag and she was excited. There is just something about seeing a little kid get all giddy with joy that warms a moms heart. It's those moments you cherish and keep with you while you work away. Cupid brought my little Valentine a new Little People book, an outfit, some Disney toys, her favorite Hershey miniatures chocolates, and a hard to find "Elsa" doll. She loved everything except for the clothes, typical child. We had fun looking through her new book and pulling open the tabs for the first time. She may not have know what the holiday was for but she definitely understood it was a special day. I decided to get up a bit ...

New Job

So I returned to the world of Creative Advertising this week and my heart is happy. I thought perhaps I was done with marketing after my last assignment but alas, I have found that I am not done with advertising I was only in need of working with good people in a supportive environment! This past week, I got to exercise my brain in a variety of ways. Went to a trailer color mix, a trailer music mix, consulted on a standee, prepped materials for printing, went through 4000 stills, saw a horror movie, and gave feedback on TV spots and trailers in production. It felt so nice to be needed once again! Best of all, no dumb drama! I drove all over the city working in Beverly Hills and Hollywood and for the first time in a long time I felt like I actually lived and worked in a big city. The advertising agency I work out on in Hollywood is on the 22 floor (the top floor) of a huge high rise. The view from that office was amazing! Overall, I had a fun week. Looking forward to more fun w...

Getting' Out of the House

So hubby and I in our quest to do all things a good parent should do (will, trust, life insurance, 529 account, IRA, Roth, etc.) had home medical exams for our two life insurance policies we are applying for. The one good thing about getting laid off was that my old employer paid for me to attend career transition class at Lee Herrick Harrison. I went to one of their finical seminars and met a really great financial guy. We were able to meet with him independently and ended up hiring him to take over our finances. I really like this guy. He is super responsive and available for any and all kind of questions. The best part is that he doesn't work on commission so he is attentive, helpful and seems to care and like his job. After helping me with the transfer of my 401k and pension plans, he is now helping us with life insurance. Today, the companies that we are applying for sent out a nurse to give us medical exams. I wasn't sure what to expect. She ended up taking bloo...

Things That Make You Go Hum...

Lunch in France is like my diabetic lunch in the U.S.

Pacific Asia Museum

In my quest to visit all Los Angeles Museums I decided to take P to the Lunar New Year Festival at the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. The event was free for all visitors that day so mom  decided to take advantage! They had different artisans there. We saw carving, paper making, calligraphy and many more. There was a big lion dance and performances by school children. The inside of the museum was very calming. There were a ton of activities inside such as leaving a New Years message on a horse, coloring, and other art projects. P and I had a good time. It was very interactive!

Story Hour

Penny and I went to our last story hour at together at the Pacific Community Center yesterday. She made friends with a boy named Trayjon and had fun running around with him and making a ballon craft with his grandma. I thought her friendship was over when her pulled her hair (quite hard) but that only seemed to make her like him more! Big crocodile tears where had when we had to say goodbye.
