Every year, I must go to Disneyland at least once and lately, I have had the itch so bad that it was getting irritating. The last time I had been was for my 34th birthday. So I used one of my vacation days and took the day off from crazy ole work. I enlisted some fellow mouse lovers and we headed to Disneyland. My hook up got us reservations at Club 33, the exclusive club in Disneyland that only has 400 members. The waiting list is so long that even if some freak accident happened and all 400 members died, you and I would still never be able to become a member in our life times. The friends who came along for the ride were "Loop Doggy Dog," otherwise known as Lisa, "The Jefmeister" aka Jeff and finally, "The Doctor" aka Kristy who just recently got her Doctorate in Marine Biology. Then there was me, "Kelldog." We got to Disney which was decorated for Halloween. The place was even more festive than it normally is! We had just enough time to go to one of my favorite places, the old school Tiki Room before we were due at the club. Jeff had never been to the Tiki Room which I found amazing. So I made him sing ALL the songs with me and bounce around tweeting. After the Tiki Room we headed to Club 33 as we had an 11:30M reservation for lunch. Lisa and Jeff had come with me to Club 33 for my birthday so this was their second visit. Kristy was a newbie so we all got to see her stare in the amazement that is Club 33. As I had originally booked the visit for Caroline's birthday, who later bailed, I didn't quite have the heart to tell my hook up the birthday girl bailed after he told me he ordered her a cake. So I suddenly found myself needing a birthday girl. Jeff couldn't do it and Lisa is a Gluten free girl so she couldn't eat the cake so that left Kristy because I couldn't be Caroline as the reservation was in my name. Luckily Kristy's birthday was only a month away so she happily filled the role of Caroline and quite enjoyed playing the birthday girl for the day. The minute we entered the club Kristy was given a Happy Birthday Caroline button and everywhere we went people said Happy Birthday Caroline! It was hilarious! I came up with a new nickname for her and started calling her Kristy-line. I have been to the club several times now and you know what? It never gets old. I am always learning something new about the place. Last time we went Jeff told me about the "secret pen," the club gives away a pen to one customer a day. Last time he got it. This time we were all trying to figure out ways to get the pen and the waiter overheard us and I just blatantly asked him "What do we need to do to get the pen?" He smiled and said all you need is a birthday. So Kristy or rather Caroline got the pen. We laughed our heads off!! As usual I got the Chateaubriand because its one place you just have to eat steak! This year Lisa found out she has Celiac Disease which is an allergy to wheat so she has to really watch what she eats. Basically she can't have Gluten. I was super impressed with Disney because they not only prepared Lisa's meal totally Gluten free but the made a special dessert for her too. And it looked amazing! What was cool was that the waiter told her she could order anything off the menu and they would prepare it differently for her. So she got the steak too! They just made her sauce different. I knew the Disney people were classy people but this just went to show me that they were super duper classy. Jeff discovered the Jambalaya at the buffetline and was so crazy insane for it, he had like 8 tiny cups of it and even made Kristy go help him get more so he didn't look crazy carrying a bunch of tiny cups. Too late Jeff, we all know you are crazy already! This time around we even got to go outside on the balcony which I never got to do before! Then Jeff got this girl to tell us some more history about the place. Then we found the special telephone booth that lets you make free calls to people in the 714. Only Kristy knew someone in the 714 and when you call them the caller ID says the Million Dollar Movie because the phone booth is from the Million Dollar movie. After Club 33 we went on all these rides and we took in the Michael Jackson in the "Captain Eo Show" which I haven't seen since the 1980's when I was little kid at Epcot. We had a great time laughing and then Jeff and I couldn't get the song out of my head. We rode Tower of Terror and had the BEST ride ever on it. Lisa clawed me it was soo scary good! Then we ended up in California Adventure and took Lisa on California Soaring which Lisa had never been on before. We finished out the evening eating popcorn! Overall, it was a fun day but man are we getting old, as we tired out at 8pm!
When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...
