And the winner is 1080092!

Last night the hub and I went to ONE SUNSET for a Cannes Kick Off party one of my shipping vendors was throwing. Cannes, if you don't know, is a city in France that hosts "the biggest" film festival of the year. Anybody who is anybody in entertainment goes to be seen. A good part of my work week has been dedicated to finishing artwork that will be plastered all over the city and anywhere in shooting distance of a photographers camera, to promote my studio's films.

To be honest, I was on the fence about going to this party but at 5:54 PM, two co-workers stopped by my office and ask if I was going. I hemmed and hawed until the co-workers asked if I had heard about the prizes they were giving away. Normally the prizes at these things are cheesy but when they said they were giving away airline tickets and a lot of them, I quickly answered "Yes, I will go." So I got in the car, called the hubby, and told him to meet me there. As I drove to WeHo (that's West Hollywood for you non-locals) I dreamed of winning airline tickets.

After arriving at my destination I immediately run into the main dude of the company and I boldly tell him I was there to win the airline tickets. After some catching up he wished me well and I continued to spread the news of my eventual win. For about an hour, I did my usual smoozing, drinking of the champers and eating the tasty appetizers that pretty ladies carried on silver platers. I met several people from those "other" studios and ran into several people from the shipping company I have worked with over the years. I keep my eye on the front door for the hubby but it takes him a while to get there. I must say, that One Sunset is quite the nice place to hang out. The drinks were good and the appetizers were very nice and then a true sign of a good party; ladies walking around giving away SPRINKLES cupcakes.

The hub came just in time to for the first round of drawings. The first winning ticket was for a pair of airline tickets to anywhere in Canada. Ticket 1080029 won. The next number called was 1080092. I looked at my ticket but it wasn't a match but yet I still had an overwhelming feeling of good luck. While I lapsed into my daydream of winning I feel a tap on my shoulder. It was the hub. He proceeds to stick his ticket in my face and says "I won." Still a bit dazed from the daydream I say "Hum?" and then "really?" I look at his ticket and indeed he had the winning ticket. I push him towards the announcer and immediately start to tell everyone in my immediate path that my husband just won 2 round trip tickets to Amsterdam on KLM airlines! My co-worker is like no-fuc***way! I am like "way." The hub took off in the crowd and I am left with the glory of knowing I was right. I had a feeling I was going to win. When you are married what is his is ours and his ticket just won me tickets!

I hear the announcer say the number a few more times and then I hear the dreaded "last call for 1080092. Anxious I look for my hubby to make sure he has gotten to the announcer in time. Stuck in my crowd I am unable to see if he got the tickets. What seems like minutes go by and I am finally able to break free. I find him standing in front of the podium and see the booty. There in his hand is an envelope with a letter from KLM airlines outlining how we redeem our airline tickets. Suffice to say, the rest of the night went well. I was really hoping I would win the two American Airlines First Class tickets to anywhere in the world but alas, I had had my good fortune for the evening and didn't want to be too greedy.

The announcer may have called my husband's number last night but do you people know why he won those tickets? .......Can't guess? It's because earlier that day as I was brushing my teeth something flashed in my head. I remembered something from my feng shui book. It said it was good luck to put gold coins in the farthest left hand corner of your house which was my prosperity room. So I took two gold-ish looking coins that were sitting inside a little turtle I got from Fiji and set them in the corner. Little would I know later that day those two coins would yield two airline tickets.

So do you people still doubt the power of the feng shui? That book totally works! Not only did we get money back from our taxes (which were weren't supposed to) but now we won airline tickets to Europe! And its totally because of the that book! See the morning before the tax guy called me with the good news I had rearranged my prosperity corner and yesterday morning I put the coins in the corner. This moving around stuff so energy can flow properly really works. I am telling you people go learn about feng shui specially if there is something difficult in your life. You probably got something out of order in your house! Anyhoo, we are off to Amsterdam! Rock on!

well statically your chance of winning would be doubled since you and your hubby joined forces. I guess it's good to get married.

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
