Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to take a shower. In lieu of a shower, we drove straight to Paia and headed for a dip in the ocean. Penny rejoiced at seeing the water again. Dad stayed on the sand as he didn't have his bathing suit. But I quickly stripped and jumped in the cool water with Penny. We were only in the water for about 20-30 minutes when we had to leave due to dinner planes but it was super refreshing! We walked up the road to another one of our favorite places, the Flatbread Pizza Co. Dave, Verona, and Mary met us for dinner. We of course talked about the wedding and also, about Mary's accident. She fell and needed to get stitches!! Her face was quite bruised up. I had a terrible headache and wasn't feeling good. Luckily, Verona had aspirin. After eating a bit and downing 3 glasses of water I started to feel better. Penny made friends with another little girl sitting behind us. Penny kept saying "Hung gee" and that little girl's mom was nice enough to give Penny a slice of pizza prior to ours coming. The pizza as usual was AMAZING! I love the Kuala Pulled Pork and Pineapple. I think we tried 4 different pizzas but that one was the best. Before we left the little girl gave Penny a nickel. Penny loved that nickel so much she was holding it and putting it in her pocket. She would repeat this over and over because basically she would put it in her pocket, check on it, it would fall to the ground and she would bend to pick it up. She did this over and over. We walked past an older man, who asked what the source of Penny's joy was and we told him about the nickel. He insisted on giving her more coins. So Penny found herself with several coins. She had no idea what they were for but the fact that they were shiny was all that mattered to her. We jumped in the car and she passed out and didn't wake up tip morning.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...
