This Father's Day I took hubs and kiddo to Afternoon Tea at The Huntington Langham Hotel. As it was Sunday, it was a chocolate tea. I was thinking where could I go where Daddy and Penny could both eat and of course, we all know little girl's love chocolate so hence the tea. Putting on our Sunday best we drove to the hotel after swim class and we have fun walking around the hotel and the lovely grounds. We were seated at a little table for three right by a big tower of chocolate. I could see immediately that Penny wanted to run her fingers through the tall tower of oozing chocolate but decorum prevailed. We immediately went to the chocolate bar and ate all kinds of sweets. We partook in chocolate flavored tea and we ate a ton forgetting that we also had a platter of sandwiches and scones coming so suffice to say, by the time we were done eating we were completely full. Good thing they have such lovely grounds to look at so we could wear some of the calories off. Afterward we went to Pirate Park so Penny could run around before we dropped Daddy off at iPic Theatres aka a fancy theatre where you can lounge with pillows and blankets in a reclinable chair for a screening of Entourage. Penny and I tried to keep ourselves busy in Old Town but Penny was restless and she got hungry so taking a chance we walked to the theatre and asked if there was a lounge to wait in for the remainder of the time. Luckily there was a super fancy lounge with food and drink that we could wait in without a ticket and no one but another couple with a baby was there. So Penny had the place to herself so she could run around and they just so happened to have cheese pizza. She soon discovered the baby and it wasn't long before I was engaged in conversation with those parents. Penny kept the baby entertained and tried to feed her pizza. Actually, I will have to remember that place if I ever need a place to go to relax while shopping in Old Town. After the movie let out we took Daddy to the Pie Hole for some pie. Ever since Penny was born we have always done pie (though previously at The House of Pies) so I thought this was a good way to keep the tradition but spice it up a bit. We gave Daddy his last present which was a Groupon to a running store to get some running shoes as he wants to run a 10K in October.
As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen. If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public. Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me. Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
