After Christmas with hubby's family in Sanger, we drove up to San Francisco for two days of fun! We booked a hotel at the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf via Priceline which was new for us as we usually stay in Union Square. But now that we have a little one, Fisherman's Wharf seemed like a better location. We arrived in the afternoon and walked around looking for a good place to eat. The place my friend suggested was completely full so we were forced to find a new place. The new place consisted of a fish and chips stand and a pizza stand. Lunch was followed up with a visit to Ghiradelli Square where we stopped in the famous ice cream parlor for a sundae and a salted carmel hot coco. We did a bit of shopping before heading back to our hotel for a rest. We got in touch with Carmen and Toby and agreed to meet up at The Fairmont Hotel at the Tonga Room aka a really cool Hawaiian themed Tiki bar and restaurant. We agreed to meet at 7pm so at 6pm we took a cable car ride. We only got one block when the cable car hit a Porsche! That stopped our ride for a bit. We finally made it to the swanky hotel and discovered a life sized Gingerbread house. We made our way through and caught up to Carmen and Elsa. I spotted a bleep of an image of a child running in the hallway that I though was Elsa. Sure enough it was her and Carmen quickly appeared. Penny was introduced to Elsa and she respectively said her name was Anna as in Anna from Frozen. They hit it off right away and started running in the hallways while we waited to be seated at the restaurant's bar/lounge area. Toby dissevered Penny and I the same way I discovered Carmen/Elsa, in the hallway. Shortly afterward, we were all seated and started what was a very fun night out on the town complete with a Lava Bowl for two and two very long straws that became a prop for picture taking. The next day we met Carmen and Elsa at the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. We spent the morning and early afternoon with them exploring the Aquarium and the cool Bio Dome. After lunch Carmen and Elsa returned home for a nap. Hubs, Penny and I went to a cool playground and spent the afternoon climbing and sliding on some really cool playground things. We even took ride on an old carousel. Penny requested to ride the zebra. Later that day we took a drive to see the Gold Gate Bridge and made a pit stop at Fort Point for a cool camera spot of the bridge. We once again returned to the hotel for a rest. When we felt better we walked to Boudin for some freshly baked sourdough. I had mine in the form of a pizza, hubby in the form of chili and a sandwich and Penny had her's in the form of a loaf of bread shaped like a turtle. I never saw Penny eat so much bread. I think she ate half of the big loaf! We walked to Pier 39 and looked around but it was bitterly cold. We returned to our hotel room and slept. The next morning we headed to Chinatown. Carmen and Elsa joined us at the Kite Shop, Fortune Cookie Shop, lunch at the Empress of China (one day before it closed its doors forever), and a little bit of shopping before we headed out of the city and back to YaYa's to pick up Moses before returning to LA for New Year's Eve.
As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen. If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public. Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me. Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
