VOO DOO DONUTS

Hubs took a man-cation to Portland to see his buddies Matt and Montez. My one request, to please bring me home a donut from the famous Voo Doo Donuts. I've heard about them for ages and have been dying to try one forever! Well, the good hubby that he is, he brought me home three! A plain glazed one, a bacon maple bar, and a Memphis Mafia Bar a.k.a. an apple fritter with chocolate and peanut butter. The maple bacon one was shear heaven, the apple fritter was amazing, and the plain one, I asked him why a plain one? Well, turns out of the three, that was Penny's personal favorite. So alas, like life, it all worked out! The donuts were amaze balls! And Montez said there is even a better donut shop in Portland. Next time I guess! But it will be hard to keep me away from Voo Doo if I go there. It was definitely, one of the best donuts I ever had.
My Yelp Review: I don't live in Portland and have never been inside this place but I heard about the donuts and when hubs went to visit friends last week I asked if he could stop in and bring me home a donut. Well, he brought home a Maple Bacon Bar, a Memphis Mafia Doughnut, and a plain glazed doughnut. He handed me the box and I opened it with excitement to see what he had brought me. I was freaking excited to eat them as they looked wonderful, even after traveling all afternoon on a plane. I took a bite of the Maple Bacon Bar and it was amaze balls!! Then a bite of the Mafia doughnut and it was sooooo good as well. I only had a few more bites because of my darn diabetes but those bites were so worth the spike of sugar that hit my system. Good stuff!

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....

Random Thoughts as the Weekend Closes

Today I got a friend request from my mother-in-law. Will she embrace the FaceBook? We wait and see. Technology is cool...I got to speak to my friend in Hong Kong today. The BlindSide is a really heartwarming and good movie. I didn't know what to expect. I saw Sandra in blond hair and I thought cheesy. Now I can't decide whether I want her or Meryl to win the Oscar. Cats are really nice creatures. I haven't really had much exposure to one before. I especially like the fact that you can hold them like babies. I wonder if I stole Mr. Chuckles if anyone would notice? hum. Bartenders blowing fire makes for an interesting drink at the bar. Plantains are better when they come with your meal and not as an appetizer. I met a man who wanted to see Leap Year. Krueger continues to take jobs that suck ass and take up her precious time. Sorry CougarTown screwed ur day up Krugs. We missed u at the movies today. Ever since I got Mo I have meet the most interesting people ...

So Proud

I have yet to bear children so I am not sure what its like to be proud of your kids but I do have this "kid" at work that I am extremely proud of this week. Three years ago, when I first transferred to my current studio due to "the merge" I was one of two people who made up the international marketing team. I am sure many of you remember me complaining how crazy I was. Anyhoo, during that time when we were setting up our team, this young girl walked into my office to interview for the internship position I was hiring for. I have been working with interns for as long as I can remember and before that, I worked with young kids at movie theatres. In all my years and in all those kids I had never met a person like the girl who walked into my office that day. It took all of two seconds for me to know she was talented and she was a star. After meeting with her I called off all the other interviews and told HR to hire her. She was a rock star intern! Later when w...
