What an Experiment!

Ms. P has taken to feeding our dog Moses. It first started with her playing in his water bowl then to feeding him dinner and now, she has found his treat drawer. Ms. P by all respects is a very caring person. She is always concerned that Moses (and mom and dad) get some bites. This, along with the reduction in human food for Moses has made him quite the aggressive little guy when it comes to food. He pretty much stalks Ms. P whenever she has food because he knows he is going to get something from her whether she a) gives it to him, b) it drops accidentally or c) if he is really inclined, he will just take it out of her hands, reducing her to tears. Despite our constant warnings, Ms. P still finds it fun to play in his water bowl. I think she tips his bowl over on purpose to see how mad her father and I get. We just can't understand how she doesn't understand why its wrong. Surely, she understands our "No's." Well, I guess that is why Ms. P's very first teacher, Jenny said she was "spicy." She is spicy alright, she likes to spice the heck out of mom and dad with that water bowl. When she isn't dumping the water, she is picking the other food bowl up. She has learned where we keep Moses food and each night after she eats dinner she will go pick up his bowl and bring it to the cabinet. We let her scoop Moses' food out and put it in the bowl and we let her carry the bowl back to his eating area. Sometimes she takes a really long way back to his tray much to his dismay. Sometimes she will like to set the bowl down in one spot and then pick it up and take it to another area and repeat several times before Moses can get his nose in the food. This, not the water bowl dumping, is really cute to watch. Now that she knows about his food and water it was only time before she learned about his treats. Today she discovered Moses' Made in the USA chicken treats (not to be confused with those evil Made in China Chicken treats). AS she loves to open and close containers it was only natural she was drawn to Moses' treat container. She took one out and almost instantly Moses who is bigger than her in size was upon her small frame and in true Moses style snatched it out of her hand quickly. Then she got another one and he did the same thing. You could see her trying to figure our the whole process and want to experiment again and again with what Moses would do. It was a good experiment on her part until we had to step in and say that Moses had had enough. Now Moses has a third person in the house who can go to that snack cabinet and get him a treat.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
