So the kitchen remodel is progressing nicely. Each night I come home something new has happened. I've always heard horror stories about contractors and remodeling so its a pleasant surprise to see things happening on a daily basis. The crew has installed new plumbing, new lights, put up new plastered walls, and filled in the holes where the door and window once were. This week the crew started laying down the new tile floor. As of last night there are only 5 more tiles to put in place before the new floor is complete! I picked a paint color for the walls. They even installed a new beam. I guess they didn't have to but the contractor wanted to make sure we were totally safe. They put in a water regulator because our water pressure is dangerously high. Glad they caught that before any major water pipes broke! By the end of the week they are going to begin installing our white shaker cabinets. The space is so big I can hardly believe it! I ams sure half the space will disappear once everything is in but right now I am revealing in all the openness. I think our new kitchen is now 1/5 the size of our entire house! The floor turned out pretty nice. Now I am excited to see about the paint and the cabinets. I am hoping I get close enough to my inspirational picture which by the way I found out was done by the white house decorator!

When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...
