Partied Like It was 1999

It's only Sunday morning and I have partied more this weekend than I have in a long while. Friday night, hubby and I went out with my girlfriend. Then last night, hubby and I went over to the Westside for our Best Man's (aka Mr. Hinojosa's) 35th birthday party and stayed out til 2:30am. It was good to spend time with friends we haven't seen in a long while such as the 81st Street Boys (a special appearance from Montez via Portland,OR), the Montgomery's and Ms. Coto.

Life has been pretty busy. I never really did get a beak from the summer blockbusters at work. The movies and the work just kept coming. With the news that our London Office is closing came even more work. Guess what happened when an office of about 100 people find out they are being laid off? ....They stop working. Hence making getting information very hard. Anyhow, it is what it is at work. We still don't know much more information other than the London Office is closing on Dec 9th and I am leaving for maternity leave on Dec 8th. My poor boss said to me the other day, he was going to be all by himself. All I hope is that I make it to Dec 8th and have insurance when I give birth. But I guess whatever will happen will happen so I can't worry about the status of my job. That's the entertainment business anyway, they are always restructuring and laying people off then hiring a ton of people back. It's crazy but that is my world.

As for baby, we took a few weeks off from doing chores and now we are back on doing little things to get ready for baby girl. We have been the lucky recipients of some cool baby gifts. We received the two car seats we asked for so at least I can now go to the hospital with ease and be assured I can bring baby girl home in the hospital approved baby seat. Hubby has to figure out how they actually go in the car. Then I bought more things for the nursery and baby girl's closet. Hubby told me to stop buying clothes but I don't think he knows that babies go through a ton of clothing in a day. I don't think I a going too overboard. In fact, I am afraid I won't have enough!!

For her room, I bought a nice chenille bright pink rug. It's super soft to walk on it. Moses likes to use it as a loofah for his face aka he likes to rub his face on it all the time. I hope our girl likes dog hair! The theme of our room is little birds. So yesterday, while out shopping with my 20% friends and family Pottery Barn discount card I bought baby girl a purple pokadotted garbage bin with a little birdie on it that matches everything else. I also bought a cute little silver bank and some knobbiest for our curtain rods. I ordered a side table and also a bookcase. My mom used to read to me so I have this little reading area in the nursery that will be for me and baby girl. It's almost ready, I just need to order this cute little lamp that has birds on it from The Land of Nod. Suffice to say the nursery is coming into shape. I only need to order a daybed and then all the big pieces will be in place and then it is about decorating. I want to have the whole thing done by Thanksgiving.

The holidays should be pretty fun this year. I have some family and friends coming for Thanksgiving and then family for Christmas. Baby Girl just needs to pick a day for her arrival. I so can't wait to meet the little wiggle worm!!!! Everyone likes to tell hubby and I scary stories about a sleep deprived life and poop coming everywhere but you know I am looking forward to a new challenge in life and I have a feeling Baby Girl is just the person to give that to me!!

Anyhow, the chores continue today as we must go get some more groceries. I sure run out of food fast when I have a coordinated diet in place!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
