We Did It!

I think our Disney craze is complete. This past weekend hubby and I bought the super deluxe premium passes to both Disneyland and Disney World. Now we can go to the parks 365 days of the this coming year! When we tell people about our purchase the first question they always ask is, "Wasn't that expensive?" To be honest, it was however, here is why we did it. We did it to save money. With our 6 days/7 nights Disney World vacation planned it would have cost about $320 per person for a 6 day park hopper ticket. And since we have been going to Disneyland every weekend we have been pondering the thought of buying an annual pass for Disneyland which goes for about $460 per person. When you add those two figures together its more than what we paid. Add in a screw up by Costco, cuz we bought some tickets to upgrade to our pass thus getting $100 gift certificates for free from Costco, we made out pretty good in the deal.

This past weekend we used our passes for the first time on May 1st. Each Sunday of the month there is a Vinylmation trading session inside Disneyland. We had never been so we got up at the crack of dawn and drove to Disney to be there at 8:30AM. The first thing we did with our pass, besides entering the park, was go to the yummy Disneyland Bakery and buy a big ole sticky bun with walnuts and syrup! The sweet taste of pure enjoyment was had for the low low cost of an ANNUAL PASS. We caught up with the traders but really it was all the same people we know (and they all have all the figures so its hard to trade with them) so it wasn't a terribly exciting trading session. I made about 10 trades and then hubby and I took off about 10:30am to walk around the park. But not before we discovered the gigantic corn dog truck!! Two of our trader friends were eating these corn dogs and I have to say I am not much for hot dogs but for some reason they looked absolutely delicious. They pointed me in the direction of the truck which had a line as long as a ride to buy corn dogs. I couldn't believe it. The corn dogs must be super good if there was a friggin huge line!! So while hubby put the plastic toys in the car I waited in line and got us two corn dogs. And the verdict? They were absolutely friggin fantastic. Until I got a stomach ache later. But oh well, that's the price you pay for being gluttonous.

After corn dog eating we walked around the park for about 2 hours. We had to leave somewhat early to be in the west side for dinner that night. All I can say, is that pass is worth it! We got 15% to 20% off on everything we bought that day! Bonus!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
