Stay Away

For the past couple years the Hubby and I have celebrate Christmas on our own before going to see family. Usually it's on the 23rd. Well, this year we took two days. On the 22nd we decided to open our presents to each other and our presents for Moses. We also opened the items in our stockings. Then on the 23rd we decided to go out for our Xmas dinner together. This year we went to The Melting Pot, think fondue. I had high hopes for being able to stick food into cheese and chocolate but all I can say after the experience is that its the biggest waste of $100 ever! Luckily we had a gift card so it didn't really cost us a thing except wasted time. The service was so completely horrible that we were able to sneak out of the restaurant as no one was paying attention. Don't worry, we left the gift card but we could have easily not have. Apparently our waiter was into waiting on a bigger holiday table aka a table with a bigger tip so our celebration meant nothing to him. It was a bit of a bummer. We would have given them a second chance if the food actually was decent but alas, it was nothing special and for a $100 it didn't really feel substantial enough. Not to mention the taste was just okay. Disappointing meal aside I did have a good time talking to hubby. We had a good 2 hours of being ignored to be able to talk to one another. That part was nice.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
