Hectic

Man have these past weeks ever been busy! Not only has work been busy but life at home. Then there is Christmas and all that comes with the holidays and you could say at this very moment I am pooped.

I have just finished cleaning my house after an epic costumed birthday party centered on Alice in Wonderland. The purpose, to celebrate my husband's 35th year of birth. After showering me with 35 surprises for my 35th this past summer, I thought long and hard what I could do to try and make it up to him. I settled on a costume party with a scavenger hunt and a massive, outrageous 8 layer themed cake.

Spent the last 6 weeks cutting out hearts, stickering this and that, ordering stuff online, trying to figure out if I could replicate a beautiful fondant cake I found online and you know enough craft projects to make 35 things for a scavenger hunt. Suffice to say I was pretty busy. And like all major events in my life we get to party day and it rains.

Well, instead of stressing about it, I decided to embrace it so at the end of the day I got pretty cozy with 40 guests in my little 1200 square foot house. I am of the opinion you have to look on the bright side of things and so I just had to laugh off the rain and embrace it as good luck. Well, I guess you could say it was good luck as the party was a success. Birthday boy had a good time with his friends, my house was trashed, and I have a garbage can full of beer bottles. hehe It was a fun evening. Oh and we got those beans back. Aargh....

Here are some pictures from the evening:

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....

Random Thoughts as the Weekend Closes

Today I got a friend request from my mother-in-law. Will she embrace the FaceBook? We wait and see. Technology is cool...I got to speak to my friend in Hong Kong today. The BlindSide is a really heartwarming and good movie. I didn't know what to expect. I saw Sandra in blond hair and I thought cheesy. Now I can't decide whether I want her or Meryl to win the Oscar. Cats are really nice creatures. I haven't really had much exposure to one before. I especially like the fact that you can hold them like babies. I wonder if I stole Mr. Chuckles if anyone would notice? hum. Bartenders blowing fire makes for an interesting drink at the bar. Plantains are better when they come with your meal and not as an appetizer. I met a man who wanted to see Leap Year. Krueger continues to take jobs that suck ass and take up her precious time. Sorry CougarTown screwed ur day up Krugs. We missed u at the movies today. Ever since I got Mo I have meet the most interesting people ...

So Proud

I have yet to bear children so I am not sure what its like to be proud of your kids but I do have this "kid" at work that I am extremely proud of this week. Three years ago, when I first transferred to my current studio due to "the merge" I was one of two people who made up the international marketing team. I am sure many of you remember me complaining how crazy I was. Anyhoo, during that time when we were setting up our team, this young girl walked into my office to interview for the internship position I was hiring for. I have been working with interns for as long as I can remember and before that, I worked with young kids at movie theatres. In all my years and in all those kids I had never met a person like the girl who walked into my office that day. It took all of two seconds for me to know she was talented and she was a star. After meeting with her I called off all the other interviews and told HR to hire her. She was a rock star intern! Later when w...
