Thank God It's The Weekend!

Has this been the longest week ever or what?? Anyhow, I am so glad it's weekend time. I can put the Blackberry down and totally chill. The top thing on my mind for this weekend is sleep. I am so looking forward to sleeping in. I seriously hope Moses is in the mood too or my plans could easily be destroyed.

Speaking of MoMo, he hasn't been feeling good this week. The poor little guy is itching all over. No fleas just itching. Anyone got any ideas or solutions as to how I can stop this? I am thinking he has allergies because the same thing happened last summer. We sprayed him with "Neem" which is highly recommended by this pet supply store but other then smelling like orange blossoms I get the distinct feeling it doesn't work cuz, he is still scratching. Oh Mo, how can I help you?

So this past week I got bored of Bloggers blah designs and decided to finally try and change my look. After investigating online I immediately found that I needed the help of hubby because adding a new design involves coding. One look at coding and I was like huh? But actually it's not terribly bad. I was able to figure out some things but you know, I was glad to have my man around to figure out the bulk of it. The current look is the result of hubby and I experimenting. I feel better about playing with code in the future. Now that the design has been changed I am trying to figure out a design that fits me, Brokencandy and the blog name I originally started out with before taking over hubby's domain aka Ramblings of a Crazy Woman Living in LA. But I think if you are a designer at heart or are just into graphics/art, you are a type of person who will never be completely happy with a design because you know in your heart of hearts it could be better. I am such a person so alas the changing. The more I find out more about this coding the more I want to experiment and see what adding a line here or there does to the look. So expect changes.

Besides changing my blog look, I spent a lot of time this week catching up on the news. A lot of crazy stuff happened. Here is a list of some of the weird stuff I read about and my thoughts:
1. Oil Spill - Douche bags. I don't like businesses that don't care about people and Mother Earth. I especially don't like it when they take short cuts.
2. Airplane crash in Libya - A little 8 yr old boy is the sole survivor out of 104 passengers. Crazy. I wonder if the boy remembers? Also, is anyone else freaked out that most sole survivors are kids? Is it fate or luck? Was that boy supposed to live to do something great? Hum?
3. That Casey Anthony lady who killed her 2 yr old needs to get the death penalty if there is any justice in the world.
4. Delta Airlines lost a dog "Paco" - I would cry bloody murder if this happened to me. What pissed me off most about this story was that Delta offered vouchers to the passenger as if that would make up for any wrong doing. NOT!!
5. All these creepy child killers (remember that teacher lady who killed her daughter's school friend?) are being convicted for life instead of getting the death penalty. Where is the eject from this earth button?
6. Speaking of ejecting from earth, the space shuttle Atlantis took off for the last time today. Space travel by shuttle is almost at the end. The shuttle is going in a museum and America is going to be looking at different commercial ways to travel in space. Meet George Jetson.
7. The Birth Control pill turns 50. The article talked about how far the pill has come and whether women really need to have periods anymore. I found it amazing that some people think its unnatural not to have a period every month. Furthermore these ladies against pills think doctors are evil to suggest woman take pills continuously. Do these women know what painful periods are like? Surely they have never been crippled by such a horrible pain which makes it impossible to get out of bed. Cuz if they ever had experienced that kind of pain they wouldn't begrudge me my continuously pill taking routine. Personally, I thank medicine for being able to give me my life back. Really ladies? This is one joy of womanhood I don't need.

So yep, it was a long week full of weird stories and blog design. How was yours?

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
