So this morning through a referral of the hub's co-worker we met with a window guy. A house as most home owners know, is a never ending project and I mean this in a good way and not as a complaint. It's like a blank canvas and each week as you look at Home Depo, some cool catalogue, visit Crate and Barrel, or go to a good rock and pottery store you imagine what those stores can do to add you the beauty of your house. Year two of owning our house has mainly found us focusing on our backyard but recently we decided that it was time to check off one of our more bigger ticket items...windows. So we have been gathering bids. We still have the original 1939 windows that came with the house. Now they are wicked cool, but unfortunately, they are made of wood and well, they are not the thickest things known to mankind. Now with the energy crazy and the economic times bringing out good deals its time to upgrade those puppies and hopefully, block out that big german shepherd barking puppy. At the ripe age of 70 years old, I think they have kinda done their job. So this guy we met, is going to give them to us at wholesale and we are getting the top of the line kind and he is bringing us up to coded. Apparently if you have the original windows in your house you are grandfathered in when it comes to code but if you change one you gots to change them all and make them code worthy. So that is what we are doing. The best part of the whole thing is we are getting rid of some of the yellow fringe that I hate (I hate fringe) and most of all the yellow parts on our house! Its not that I hate yellow but I hate the fringy stuff the yellow is painted on. Hurray for that! It takes about 6 weeks to order the glass and then about 2 days to install. I can't wait to see what they will look like! It's always pretty fun to upgrade our house and see how much better it looks with new paint, a new door or in our case some new windows. It was a pane to write that check but worth it for all the new panes we will be getting.
When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...
