After spending 4 days on land the next phase of our Disney vacation took place by sea. Thursday morning we awoke bright and early and met the family at Cape May a character buffet breakfast at our resort. Pretty much the entire clan had been eating at buffets but this was the first one for the hub and I. Still not hungry we both had a few bites of things. But it did look like a perfectly cool buffet. The problem with the stomach flu is that you sometimes feel ok to eat and other times don't and then sometimes you can't eat a lot, only a few bites because your stomach shrank. This is probably the only time I went to DisneyWorld and actually lost weight on a trip. We may not have had food to entertain us but there were characters. The table met Minnie, Gooffie and Donald Duck. They signed Clayton's book which by now was full of signatures and I collected photos. After breakfast we had a little time to rest before we had to gather in a big lobby and be checked on a Magical Bus to be taken to the port. During our meeting in the lobby we had to meet with individuals who asked if we had been sick in the last 3 days. Now I am a really honest person and hate to lie but you know where honesty has gotten me in my life? Well, it's gotten me into a lot of trouble that is what it has done. At of age of 33 I have finally learned that being truthful is not always the best policy as it can royally screw you despite having really good intentions. I knew if I answered yes to their questions they wouldn't have let me on the boat. So as I approached the lady and she asked her questions I shook my head no a few times. Then she handed me a pamphlet that basically outlined all the symptoms of my sickness. "So this is what I had," I said to myself. The good thing about the Dinsey Cruise Line should any of you be considering them for a trip is that they do care a lot about the health of their passengers. I have never in my life, sanitized or washed my hands as much as I did on that boat. When you go on a Disney Cruise you can be assured people are thinking about your health despite people like me who lied to get on. Anyhow, The infected hub, step-brother and I got on the boat. The first thing we did was find our cabins. Faith had put us in different staterooms all over the ship. The hub and I located our room and when we opened the door we found a big ole gift basket on the bed. Faith really was something else!! The gift bag had a ton of snacks and goodies which you will be happy to know we actually ate. Our room was quite large and had a port window. I had previously been on 3 Carnival Cruise trips and so I was amazed at how much nicer the rooms were on The Wonder. And they were decorated in a cute nautical theme. My previous trips had me sleeping in a bunk but our room this time had a big queen bed and our own TV watching area with a couch. THe bathrooms were nicely tiled and the portions of the shampoos and lotions were huge! I guess that's why it costs a little more to go on a Disney Cruise as the little extras do add up. After unpacking the hub and I decorated our cabin door with the Disney themed magnets that Faith had made for us. I am telling you she thought of everything. Then we made our way up to the top deck to get some food (which we actually both ate a full meal) and partook in the Bon Voyage party. After the part it was time for dinner. We had the early seating due to Clayton. Dining on The Wonder was kinda cool. You basically ate at three different restaurants each night and your serving crew stayed with you. The first night we ate at Triton's (Little Mermaid) and dined on seafood. The second night was the Artist's Palate (imagine more casual but a ton of Disney drawings all over the place and TV monitors. The third night the group was scheduled to eat at Parrot Cay (imagine the enchanted tiki room at Disney) but Faith had made reservations for Bryceton, Kat, Holli, Neil and the hub & I to eat at this 5 star restaurant on the top of the ship. It cost a little more but it was so worth it. It was an Italian restaurant and boy, it was the best food I had on the entire trip (yes, better than Jiko's thought). I am not sure if our dinner partners eat at many nice restaurant as they all seemed a bit jjittery and were asking the hub and I a lot of questions about the menu. Besides making me feel old, it was kinda cute to watch them all order. A particular nervous moment was when a bottle of wine was ordered and nobody including us knew what they just ordered or how much it cost. The food at Palo was very tasty so if you do go on this Disney Cruise pay the extra $15 bucks and go have dinner there. The chocolate souffle was to die for!! The cruise we went on was a 3-day Cruise with 2 stops at ports. One in Nassau in the Bahamas and other at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island. Unfortunately, for the entire ship we couldn't stop at Castaway Cay due to heavy winds. Everyone was completely pissed. Some Florida storm came in making the winds heavy then what the boat could process so we couldn't going into that port. It would have been cool to stay at sea but the temperature was a cool 60 degrees. I thank good that we had gotten off the ship in the Bahamas and went to the Atlantis Resort the day before but unfortunately, not everyone in our party had gotten off so they were really disappointed when our second port was cancelled. Good thing Clayton had no idea what he missed. Well, despite being disappointed about CastAway Cay we did find fun aboard. Some highlights include playing several rounds of BINGO, watching the fireworks and having our own party on Pirates of the Caribbean Night and some may or may not say singing Kareoke. The biggest different between a Disney Cruise and a Carnival Cruise is all the kiddies. It's definitely more kiddie oriented but if you are an adult and like Disney you should have a good time too. However, there is no casino aboard if that matters to you. But like the other cruise ships there are shows, art auctions, activities and events but everything is more family friendly. We were only able to catch one show but I thought it was really enjoyable. The other shows looked really good too. Besides eating at Palo and having fun playing Bingo with the family my favorite thing was our stop in the Bahamas and being able to go to Atlantis Resort. We basically went on this tour that gave us a day pass at the resort. We were able to lounge around the extensive property and soak up the sun on the beaches. I even swam in the crystal clear blue ocean which was so wonderful. They had really good mixed drinks (umm the one's on Disney are bit watered down). The hub and I had fun going to the two aquariums which were I think one of the best aquariums I have ever been to. I think it might be fun to actually stay at the Atlantis resort for a few days. But I am sure its super expensive. Although the CastAway Cay was a disappointment it did free up some time for the hub and I to have a couple's message and we all know how I like messages. When we left the ship at 8AM on Sunday and headed to airport overall the hub and I had a great trip despite contracting Ebola. Sure it was a bummer thing to have on vacation but as they say ever cloud has a silver lining. We had a some great meals, good times with family and of course, good ole Dave made our fireworks experience the most magical surprise ever!!! We probably never thanked Faith and Morris enough so I want to shout out and say thank you, thank you, for taking us along on your vacation. We had a blast!!!
When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...
