My Horoscope for Yesterday

You will be getting more curious about living life according to other philosophies --foreign cultures are intriguing, so it might be a wonderful time to learn something new about one of them. Exposing yourself to different cultures will not only fascinate you right now, it could bring you face to face with someone who will alter your life in a very significant way. So don't shy away from places where they don't speak your language. There are ways of communicating that go beyond words.

Yes, I am a sucker for horoscopes, feng shui, and all that other mystical garbage. Why not? It's fun stuff. I really truly believe you can make anything happen if you believe enough and keep a positive attitude. So anyway, when I read the above I couldn't help but smile because I am getting ready to go to Europe again and I have been reading this very intriguing book called EAT, PREY, LOVE about this divorced woman, who is my age, who decides to go live in Italy, India and Indonesia (the three I's) to rediscover who she is as a person. She lives 4 months in each place for 1 year. (I would think that would be pretty cool). Basically, I have been dreaming of traveling lately and also, I believe because I have spruced up my travel room in my house that I am now able to go traveling.

My Rationale: the day Brian won the airline tickets I spruced up my prosperty room, thus allowing prosperty to come my away, then I did a bit of rearranging in my travel room by placing symbols of where I wanted to go in the room and now whala out of nowhere I am going to Europe!!! See...this is why I think feng shui works or at least I am keeping an incredibly open mind.

Yes, I am one of those idealists who are constantly reevaluating life and asking myself "Am I doing all that I can with my life?" I must confess I keep a little black book. Not of past men or anything but a little black book of things I want to do in life. I guess you could call them goals/dreams. In the book I write down places I want to visit, restaurants I want to try, vacations I want to take, or things I want to accomplish. I have been keeping this book oh, for about 15 years and you know what? Most of the stuff I write down comes true!

It's extremely fun to go through the book a few times a year to see what has actually happened. Brian and I are now going to Amsterdam for Thanksgiving. Thanks to Feng Shui, Brian won two free airline tickets from LA to Amsterdam. He couldn't come with me when I went in June for work so we are going to use them over Thanksgiving when we both have time off. During our trip we will take a train to PARIS. I am sooo excited as I have never been and I am dying to see the Eiffel Tower! Another item to cross off in my book of goals.

Anyhoo, I get really brokenhearted when I see people who don't think things are going their way because I think if you open your mind to change or new possibilities then you are opening yourself to new exciting stuff in your life. But the key is being open to it.

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
