Thanks Miguel

Thanks to my pal Miguel, who stopped by our house last night and brought his friend, the cute, Maria. He took us to a Peruvian Restaurant in Eagle Rock for dinner, helped us pick out some "on Sale" DVD's at Blockbuster and had fun chatting at our house afterward. Thanks for helping me start to get rid of my "What's Next? disease this week with your two home visits.

Miguel also stopped by this past Sunday to give us a tree. He works for a studio too and for Earth Day they gave all the employees trees. Miguel asked me if I wanted his tree for our house and I said yes. He tried to bring it to us once but we weren't home and then the heat attacked it. I was very impressed with his skills in bringing the tree back to life. It's impressive when you see the lush tree. We will have to find a really good home for it when we do our landscaping project.

Rosemary and Neil are going to come in early August to help us start landscaping our backyard. We want to get this done so we can start throwing parties! We are looking to build a fireplace, a grill, a sitting area, a dining area, a concrete water fountain, a wooden purgula, install pavers and stairs.

After Miguel and Maria left last night, I checked my e-mail and then discovered the iMovie icon on our computer. I opened it up and it looked interesting so I loaded all my Euro Trip photos in it. I was rearranging the photos and adding music and was beginning to make a little movie. I got my editor hubby to help me and I think I have found a new project. I can't wait to get out of work today and come home to work on it.

This weekend it looks like we have plans. We are catching up with Caroline and her boyfriend to see, THE DARK KNIGHT and have some lunch on Saturday. Then we are going to check out my friend's art show (she's a photographer) and hopefully get something cool to hang up in our house. Then on Sunday, I am going to Burke Williams and having lunch with a girlfriend from work and then in the afternoon I am going to a BBQ hosted by one of Brian's kickball buddies.

It's a good feeling to have plans again!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
