What Now? Disease

The new season of kickball started today so that means the hub is once again putting his foot bones and other bones at risk of injury. In case you are wondering his foot has healed nicely. He has been running around without crutches since mid-June. Upon learning he was back to playing I of course, as his wife, gave him a lecture on being careful. He responded it was time to get back in the saddle again. He's right of course. Can't go around life worrying about breaking bones otherwise, it would be a dull life (but he better be careful! :) ).

Speaking of dull, the hub and I as of late, have run out of things to do. Which is a very odd feeling for two people who otherwise, live a crazy, hectic life. Living in LA for the past 10 years has conditioned us to a fast paced life style. We always have to be doing something or going somewhere and if we don't we feel like we are not accomplishing anything. Resting is a hard concept for us city folks to buy into so lately, we have been feeling bored. Not bored with each other but we just don't have anything to do.

If you think about it we have been on a roller coaster "of projects" for the past few years. We planned a wedding for a year and a half, searched and found a house after that, and then spent a year fixing up the house. At the moment our ride has come to a "complete stop" and is reloading passengers. I have caught myself and the hub asking each other "What now?" or "What's next?" too many times over the past few weeks. That is a sure sign you are bored.

We can't seem to enjoy relaxing because I swear we have seen everything on TV. Although we dearly love "Diff'rent Strokes," we have now watched a million episodes and ache for something new but you know what? There isn't anything to watch except HGTV and when you can start reciting design tips by heart, you know you have watched that channel too much. Same with Food Network. So with TV gone, no scrapbooking to do (would somebody get married or have a baby already??), no kickballing (until today), no appointments or get togethers, we have been doing pretty much nothing. This is cool when you have TV to watch but there is a TV Show shortage right now.

I don't like doing nothing because I find myself eating too much crap as a result. And we have already established I just purchased fat jeans so I shouldn't be eating when I am bored. But alas, there have been too many birthdays at work and too many damn Sprinkles cupcakes and you people know I can't turn those down. I must of ate 500 pounds of chocolate in the last month (Damn Vienna, Amsterdam and Heathrow Airports!! I think I spent 50 Euros on chocolate items alone. You men have no idea what it is like to be a woman and craving chocolate).

In our downtime, I have discovered the following things about food: 1.) Regular hummus is the best. The flavored stuff sucks. 2.) Indian bread is so good with hummus (forget pita). 3.) When you are out of hummus/bread, chips and the hubs homemade guac are a good salty replacement. I must have bought a trees worth of avocados this past month for this craving. 4.) Finally, Captain Crunch Crunchberries is a really good cereal. Yes, I know I am sad. I can't help it I have the What's next disease and I can't get rid of it. Bring on August, we have a landscaping project that is supposed to start and I have a Girls Vegas Trip.

Miss you two! I bought a new long lens. i am so going to take pictures of your hub playing KB. You can scrapbook that.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. Everyone is Having Kids

Yesterday, one of my roommates from the Burbank years gave birth to a little girl. This is her third child. While I am so completely happy for her this happy celebration has gotten me thinking about children and nosey people who ask me when I am going to have them. Some might think this subject is it too personal for blog talk but I figure if people want to bud into my business by asking me about kids then I can bud into yours by talking about them. I realize that I am physically old enough to have kids but being physically old enough isn't enough for me. Today, as I looked at my friend's blog describing her birthing experience, I realized the only reason I am thinking about children so much lately is because so many darn people are asking me about them. Every single friggin day I run into "Patty" at work.
