The Simpson's Movie just landed in my house and I love it! I have never watched much of The Simpson's which is weird because it's been on TV for like, forever! But due to the lack of fresh television (a.k.a. due to the Writer's Strike) I have been forced to turn to DVD's and other TV shows I haven't previously watched. I must say, for a person who has watched about 4 episodes of The Simpson's previously, I am quite taken with the show and now I can't get the words "Spider Pig" out of my head.
Besides watching The Simpson's, Brian and I tackled the daunting task of putting all of our DVD's back into the 400 slot DVD machine we own. You see, Brian doesn't like the look of the DVD cases sitting around in piles so he bought this machine to hold them so we don't have to display the millions of cases. I like the idea of not seeing the cases but then there are a few problems. 1.) It's not as easy to open up the machine (as it is a case) to get a DVD out for use on a portable DVD player. 2.) you are beholden to watch the movie in the room that contains the 400 slot DVD player. 3.) The remote control is not the easiest thing to use. (It would probably be easier if we had a PC because the DVD player can be organized via a PC and we only have MACs). 4.) The machine is larger then any other piece of equipment we own to it overhangs from the display unit. At the end of the day, all our stuff is in one spot so it keeps the living room looking clean and tidy.
After we moved from Noble all of our DVD's remained on the spindles we used to move them. So last night we hooked up the Bose speakers and put the DVD's back into the machine. However, when we put them back in we discovered we had more DVD's then the machine holds (thanks to my studio's cheap pricing). So then we had to pick out our favorites and kick a few out (like those freebee's STEP MOM and SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTs that came with our first DVD player - Doesn't everyone have these?). We didn't have room to put all the TV shows in the machine so we put those in one of those handy dandy DVD binder books. We also discovered we had a few duplicates (Anyone need SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY's or SLEEPING BEAUTY?) Anyhoo, now we are back to being organized, DVD wise.
