No Lollipop for the Hub

The hubby got the news a while back from our dentist that he needed to get his wisdom teeth pulled. Not because anything was wrong but because as you get older the teeth pretty much like where they have been and don't like to come out easy. He thought this week would be a good week to do do the deed because he had a week off before starting his new TV editing gig called TEN YEARS YOUNGER. So he called me up at work on Tuesday and asked if I could be his designated driver. When you have oral surgery they drug you up and you must have a driver wait for you at the office while they take the teeth out. I didn't mind as I got out of the office for a half of day plus he seemed a bit nervous so I wanted to be there for him. He went in at about 9:30AM on Wed and came out about 11:10AM. His checks were puffy. Following close behind him was a lady who gave me a bunch of paperwork on how to care for him. I had already filled his two prescriptions so we immediately went home. He was a little bit in shock as he hadn't realized he'd be knocked out. So he was a bit disturbed that he awoke in a different room then where he started (insert funny joke here). He appeared to have all his clothes on right so I didn't worry. Got him home and put him in bed and forbid him to drive anywhere. I don't think I needed to worry as he was still knocked out when I got home at 8pm. Getting your wisdom teeth out sucks cuz you can't eat. Thank god Jamba Juice is close by! I think the only thing the poor guy had to eat for two days were the two pineapple flavor Jamba drinks. He was down for about two days. Luckily he was up for going out last night. He was able to join Rhonda's movie club and we took in a movie, cocktails and dinner at the Arclight. It was nice to have a date night with the hubby. Today we are just working on the house. Then we have to pull the Halloween costumes out of the garage as we have a big party to go to in West Hollywood at a club called Pearl. One of my vendors has an annual party each year. Actually it was at his party in a where house downtown in 2003 where I first made out with Brian in a corner until the LAPD broke up the party (boy, was that a good party). So I am looking forward to finding a good corner tonight.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
