Friendship Day

At Baby Girl's daycare, Valentine's Day is known as Friendship Day. I asked why and the response was "So, that all people can celebrate the holiday." I guess it makes sense since it typically a couples/lovers/romantic day. When we arrived at school the room was decorated like Valentine's Day with a ton of heart everywhere. Valentines were not given out but Baby Girl did give her best friend, Logan one. She snuck it in his mailbox. Baby Girl also sent valentines to several of her baby friends and aunt and uncles. In the past, hubbers and I have made a big deal about the holiday but with the baby girl we kept it real low key. Almost non-existant! hehehe We didn't mind though. I had a perfectly pleasant day though. At work we had a little gathering, a a few boxes of candy were sent our way, then I went over to the daycare at lunch and played this hearts game with Baby Girl and Logan. Overall, it was a pleasant day of love and appreciation for those that I love. baby Girl received a few valentines from her grandparents which she had fun opening. Have I told you that girl loves paper?! A lot of people have turned against valentine's day but it doesn't have to be just about spending a ton of money on dinner and flowers. It can be about the simple things. For me it was important to acknowledge the day with Baby and help her celebrate, not in an extravagant way but in a fun way. Cause that is what life is all about, the love and the celebrations with others.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
