Today via text I found out my Uncle Roger passed away. He was 66 years old, a veteran of Vietnam and his last day on earth was Veterans' Day.
He had been in hospice for 2 months so we knew his time was limited but when it comes to dying, I am not sure anybody can be ready to lose someone.
It's really weird to go through life with all these relationships and then one day, out of the blue you discover someone who has been around since you, yourself was born, is now suddenly gone.
I feel sad I won't get to attend his funeral this Friday and be with my family.
Babies, marriage are much more celebratory events. Although in death we celebrate the life of the person we loved, its ultimately all the more saddening because you know that it's one day closer until you, yourself face the end and that is scary.
Goodbye Uncle Roger, I will remember the good times and hope, you have gone to a better place.
