LA County Fair

You know, it's pretty fun to watch children experience the world for the first time! I just love watching Penny's face when she has tasted something new or touched something funny or sees something interesting. Kids make yah feel old (cuz darn it they are a lot of work) but at the same time they are wearing you out you get a piece of your childhood back. You get to view innocence through the eyes of your kids. And so this weekend I was a bystander in Penny's viewing arena at the LA County Fair. There were a lot of bright and colorful things for the girl to look at. From booths to animals to food to hot tubs to dogs jumping into pools, the fair pretty much has it all. In fact it was so overwhelming the girl didn't nap at all. One of my favorite moments of the day was when she met a horse. Penny loves Moses and must have wondered what such a big dog was doing outside. But like Moses the horse was a good boy looking for a pet and little Penny was there to take the exp...

Picture Day

Penny's first school picture was taken this past Tuesday. The photographer took the classic single photos and then took a class photo with all the babies and the teachers. It's cool how school pictures have progressed over the years. Instead of having to buy a package upfront, they now take the pictures upfront and you can view the results online and buy packages of what turned out well. Instead of the standard blue background, there are several color backdrop options. And, they also have a fancy fall background option with leaves. Here is a picture of Penny in the dress she wore to her first photos hoot.

Meeting The LaVeck's

This weekend Sue, Phil and Molly came to meet Penny for the first time and to visit. Sue and Phil live in Michigan and they come out to visit their daughter, Molly, who like me, moved out to LA to pursue her dreams of working in Hollywood. I have known Sue all my life as she went to school with my mum and dad many, many, moons ago! She has always been like an aunt to me so its very natural that I call her Aunt Sue. When I was a teenager, she gave birth to Molly who was like the sister I never had. We have gotten together so much over the years they truly are part of my family. Unfortunately, they have experienced a lot of deaths in their family recently so they haven't been able to meet Penny. Penny didn't mind though. She sensed they were good people and immediately took to them. Here are a couple of photos I took over lunch at Dim Sum in downtown ChinaTown.

9 Months Old!

Saw the doctor and he cleared Penny to eat meat and dairy. We took the okay to heart and haven't looked back! Last week I was eating a turkey sandwich with fruit when Penny grabbed for a bite. So I gave her a bite of turkey and she loved it! She ended up eating a small portion of my meal. Ever since then she has been an eating machine! Even though she doesn't have teeth she still gobbled things up! She just loves feeding herself! So far she has tried turkey lunch neat, rotisserie chicken, scrambled eggs, rice, grilled chicken, peas, carrots, bagels, zucchini, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and much more! She likes everything except green beans and fish. She likes sweet berries not sour ones. I've been having fun ordering up meals at daycare. The studio provides food to the school and they prepare it for the Kids. Penny has so much fun sitting with the other babies at the big kids table! She loves being social and eating. So far introducing Penny to food...
