The Zombie Fortress

Baby girl's closet is shaping up nicely thanks to some of momma and dadda's shopping splurges this past holiday weekend! Hubby and I spent late Saturday morning and early afternoon at The Citadel Outlet Mall aka "The Zombie Fortress". Huh?

See hubby calls it a Zombie fortress because the outside of the outlet mall is decorated like a big medieval castle that gives the appearance of a well protected fortress. Every time we pass the outlet mall, which is a lot because we are always passing it on the way to Disneyland, hubby mentions that in a zombie attack we should head to this outlet mall for protection from the brain eating creatures. I am not sure about you but I think of zombie attacks all the time....NOT...oh the things boys think of in their heads!!

On Saturday, when we arrived (after a crazy misguided exit from the freeway that took us in circles) I think hubby was sad to find out the wall doesn't actually enclose the shopping outlet and it's only the front of the outlet that has the big wall. There goes our protection in a Zombie attack!

Typically, I am not a big shop to you drop mall person. Usually, when I shop at a mall, I don't go to every store, only a few of my favorites so my shopping is targeted and quick. But now that I have baby girl on the way my shopping experience has been improved by 100 fold because I am going into stores I had never entered before such as Baby Gap, Gymboree, Carter's, The Children's Place, etc. and all of thes stores have items that I have never gave a second thought to before, namely baby clothes. Instead at looking at dumb jeans that will never fit my thights I am now looking at clothes for baby girl and she doesn't care about her thighs. So not only do I have new stuff to look at but shopping at my favorite department stores is even better because I have the baby department to visit now as well.

Well, I must have decided to go to the outlet at a good time because we hit some really good deals. At Carter's everything was 50% off.
I got baby girl a tiny, tiny red satin Christmas dress and sweater for her to wear at Christmas, assuming she makes her appearance out of the womb prior to the holiday. If not, it will be a swell New Year's Eve dress.
We also got several other goodies. Her closet is actually shaping up quite nicely. Hubby told me I need to quit now which I will try to do but the last time I got to play dress up was when I was dressing up my dollies when I was 5 years old.
Frankly, it's just too darn fun seeing all the cute stuff they have out there. The best part, everything I am buying is all on sale so really, I haven't been too bad.

Here is a couple pictures of baby girl's closet.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
