Game Night Reunion

It's been a few months since we have had game night with Caroline and her friends. A few years ago, Caroline's friend, Cindy started a game night which mostly consisted of Caroline and Cindy's co-workers. The hub and I were invited and we must have played good because we have been invited ever since.

Typically game night occurs once a month for a few months and then there is a break because we all get busy or something. This time the break lasted a long time, as our last game night was in November! I really enjoy game night. Everyone usually makes something and contributes to a yummy dinner. Last nights dinner consisted of a shrimp salad, bbq chicken wings and garlic bread. Preceded by some great appy's aka appetizers. And of course, there is always a well stocked bar full of beer and cocktails.

Even though it's called game night there is only one game we ever play and that is called Catch Phrase. It's Cindy's favorite and since she is the host, that is what we play. Although when we hosted at our house we did try to mix it up with Scattagories but it didn't go over well due to this one guy but he really only came that one time. But since he messed it up we have always just stuck to Catch Phrase. We are all getting pretty good at tossing that thing before the buzzer sgoes off.

Well, last night we ended up outside sitting by the fire. It was such a nice night we didn't end up playing the game because it would have required a flash light and that was just too difficult and the beer and cocktails had put us all in a nice place. So it was a night of drinking and catching up on everyone's news. Since it had been so long since we all have seen each other there was a lot of news. Luckily hubby was able to come and join after his grilled cheese invitational.

Here's a recap:

Caroline and her boyfriend, Minh spent their second winter snowboarding with friends each weekend at Bear and Mammoth. They pretty much hit the slopes each weekend from November to April. I hadn't seen Caroline in a while and it seems like she has taken up quite a few sports. In addition to snowboarding, she has taken up running, hiking and mountain biking. It sounds like she is one busy, busy lady. She's even been doing these marathons too. Anyhow, she is doing really well and is very fit!

Cindy is doing quite well. She read that Feng Shui book I told her about MOVE YOUR STUFF, CHANGE YOUR LIFE and she discovered she had all this luggage aka baggage in her relationship room. So she removed the bags and all the sudden this man comes into her life! See I told you people that book works!!! Anyhow, we meet this new man at game night and they make a really nice couple. She looks extremely happy. It's always nice to see your friends glowing. I have a good feeling about this guy.

Christine is moving to San Diego and has gotten a sweet new job with a 55% pay raise, so she was really happy too. And Sarah has gotten a new boss at work so she was pretty happy about that.

But the most shocking news of the night was that I found out Amy Ko is engaged!!! Yep, Amy is engaged to her dance partner, Larry and is getting married in October. She is becoming a step-mom to two pre-teen girls. Caroline is planning the bacherlorette party in Vegas already. Color me shocked!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
