LOLLIPOP'S MOVIE REVIEW: Hot Tub Time Machine

(For Montez): So finally I got to see this movie that I've heard so much about. It's the latest movie from the always in financial trouble MGM. Is it me or is it pretty rare these days to get to see a good comedy? I am trying to think back over this past year as to a good comedy and all I can come up with is The Hangover from Warner Bros. I have to say The Hangover was one of the best written comedy scripts in perhaps a decade. Anyhow back to Hot Tub Time Machine. I mean the name alone is funny. And knowing that it stars John Cusack you know it has to be kind of decent right? I knew going in this was going to be an ode to the 80's and it deliver on that point. From the walkman cassette's, to the crazy leg warmers and the cheesy sayings "Where's The Beef?" This movie had 1986 covered. While this movie isn't as good as The Hangover, you will enjoy it if you go in looking for a good time with no expectations. Also you need to forget any notions you think you might have about time traveling. Because these guys do not follow any kind of sense when traveling back in time. There are all kinds of loop holes in this movie. But you kind of forgive the fact when the Dad from the Back to the Future series shows up and when someone asks "What color is Michael Jackson?" upon just arriving in 1986. Sure it's a bit predictable but the best thing about this movie are the actors. The story is "ehh" but at the end of the day, for me, it was fun just watching the guys react to what they thought was the very distant past. Three and a half smiley faces :) :) :) :

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
