Busy Week

Last week was one hectic week!! About 150 people flew in from around the world to attend our 2010 conference. Our little group was busy trying to get filmmakers to let us show early footage from their films. It was rough but we were able to see a ton of footage and a lot of directors were able to show up and introduce their materials. In addition to watching footage and attending seminars like "how to prevent piracy" and "assets in the digital age" we did a lot of eating. It started last Sunday night at a Brazilian restaurant and ended on Friday at a lunch at the studio dining room. I was one tired lady at 6pm on Friday.

Yesterday, we spent all day preparing our house for a dinner party for 8 people. The hubby made a trip to the butcher's and came home with a $65 piece of meat! Damn, was his Beef Wellington ever good! I think perhaps my hubby and his mother could go into the restaurant business if they wanted to. All of our guests raved over the food. It's pretty fun getting to use the china and the pretty napkins that were given to us for our wedding. Even more fun to spend time with people you don't normally see. Throw in some fancy champaign from France and some yummy desserts you have a pretty good evening. Even Moses had a good time. I am pretty sure he has never seen so much food in his life!

We managed to sleep in until about 8AM today. That Moses runs our household. Just finished cleaning up the remainder of the dishes and hubby took Moses for a walk. Now to enjoy the sun that has decided to reappear. We plan to enjoy this beautiful day.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
