ANGER
1. It's 5AM on a holiday and I am pissed and can't sleep. I spend my time trying to make miracles happen at work. Staying late and working overtime. Around 5PM yesterday after spending my afternoon working when I was supposed to be off to make a deadline overseas I get an email that basically cancels all the work I had been working on all week. So basically two nights staying up till midnight talking to a country who needed artwork and yesterday, my holiday from the studio were done for nothing. It friggin' pissed me off. Well, no more miracles people, this miracle worker has closed its doors.

2. Then my hubby gets home and says that the people who installed the gate at our house (for the dog) installed it in the wrong place (as in our our neighbor's property). Causing me to be even more mad. Those douche bags have to come out this morning taking up even more of my time off from work to fix the problem.

MARRIAGE
3. This past Saturday, we celebrated my girlfriend, Susan's bacherlotte party by renting a limo and driving all over the West Side to various bars. Can't believe the last party girl is getting married! But very glad about the guy she is marrying. He is very sweet. The best part is that they both meet at my bacherlotte party. It's way fun to tell people how I know the couple.

4. On July 4th this year, we are going to a wedding. Yep Susan and her man are getting married on the 4th of July because its the only day of the year, her hubby-to-be, who is a Navy pilot, can't be summoned to fly an airplane in a minute's notice. So the hub and I are going to Laguna Beach for the Beachside wedding. It should be fun with all those Officers and Gentlemen roaming around in their Navy Whites.

DOG
5. Gave Moses his first bath in the tub. For a lab, he doesn't like water. He looked like one sad puppy when the affair was over, not to mention mommy was completely wet from dog shakes.

6. Took Moses to the vet for the first time. Well, really it was my first time to the vet and not Moses. Had to get him a rabies shot so we can get him a dog license. In LA your dog has to be neutered and have a rabies shot. Now we have both covered. He also had to get a shot for his little wound under his ear. Seems he has been scratching his ear too much. The doctor gave him a shot so he wouldn't scratch.

7. Moses had his first accident in the house. He pee'd on m pottery barn dining room table rug. For some reason he didn't want to sleep in the room with us so we let him wander the house. Big mistake. In the wee hours of the morning he must have run into the leg of the my dining room table and thought it a tree. Mommy and Daddy had lots of fun with vinegar and water. Rug back to normal and Dog back in our room.

8. Gate, the gate we purchased for Moses so he could run around in our backyard would be almost perfect if it weren't in our neighbor's yard.

FUN WITH FRIENDS
9. Reconnecting with lost friends on FACEBOOK is fun. Two girls that Brian used to work with on movie sets contacted him. We ended up having dinner with them at El Arco Iris a Mexican joint by our house. I had never met them before and the experience turned out to be cool. One girl is getting a book published and is going on a book tour while her hubby is off to teach school in Jordan for King Jordan's school. The other girl is still in production in LA. It was fun to meet people who I haven't met before who knew the hub.

10. Went to my vendor/friend's annual bowling party. The Sand Man as I like to call him rents out a old time bowling alley in Montrose every year and throws a party for family and friends. I actually beat my hubby in bowling for once. hehe

11. The next day we meet up friends for a dog play date. We took our dogs up to Muholland Drive to Runyon Canyon and walked the trails. It was a gorgous trail with great views. Daddy took Moses off leash at the dog park section of the Canyon. He had fun.

12. Next Friday we are hosting game night at our house with my friend Caroline and her friends. Our turn to cook dinner and provide the games. Looking forward to it.

13. The following Friday we are hosting a gathering for my friend Rebekah, who used to be one of my LA roommates, who is coming to town from Texas with her 3 kiddies. Can't wait to meet her little girl Trinity who was born not too long ago.

WORK
14. I have officially been employed for 5 years at my job. Got a certificate of service and I was able to pick out 1 of 25 gifts. I chose a watch. Also, start earning 3 weeks of vacation. Hope I can actually use some of it now that I am no longer into making miracles.

15. Our Summer Blockbuster movie did well so we got a 1/2 day off from work yesterday. Would have been cool if I didn't have to work from home and then finish that work and then find out those dummies didn't want the art anymore.

16. Got a gift bag as we drove into the studio of some toys, t-shirt and cards. Gave the toys and cards to my nephew (via his dad who is staying at our house for a gig) and gave the shirt to my hubby to add to his collection.

FAMILY TIME
17. Taking a little more than a week to go to Michigan to go to a friend's wedding at the beginning of September. Just booked the cabin and the airline tickets and now I have to find a rental car. My parents are going to meet up with us. Also going to try and take the hubby to Mackinaw Island.

18. My brother can't meet up with us so the hub and I will hopefully try and go visit them in Chicago sometime.

19. The hub's cousin called and said he was going to be in town with his wife as the were seeing the Jimmy Kimmel show. Ended up meeting up with them for some Ghengis Cohen, only the best Chinese Food ever!!! And showed them our house. Fun times.

DEAD PEOPLE
20. Can you believe all of these people who are dying? What's going on in Reaper Land?

21. Started watching the TV Show called REAPER via netflicks and it is way awesome.

NEIGHBORS
22. I have been meeting more of them now that I have a dog. It's surprising how friendly people are when you walk a dog. Everyone should get a dog and walk it to meet people. Moses ran into this ladies yard and after speaking with her for 5 minutes she runs into her house and comes out with a stack of coupons for free boxes of dog treats. I told Moses to run into whoever yard he wants if he keeps getting Momma free food coupons.

23. The house next to our next door neighbor has sold. Guess what? Another set of gay neighbors! The only reason I point this out is because both of our neighbors on either side of us are gay and now another neighbor is gay. We really do live in an up and coming neighborhood!! Our new neighbors are in the process of remodeling the house the bought and boy have they ever done wonders to that old dilapidated house.

24. Started walking my dog with my neighbor Pepe and his dog, Pepperoni in the evenings. He is learning English so we have fun teaching him words and he has fun teaching me Spanish words.

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
