Game Night at Lollipop's!

So for over a year now the hub and I have been going to my friend's game night. The evenings are always on a Friday Night and usually occur once every other month. All of the invitees are m friend's peeps from work whom I have gotten to know over the years at various events. Since we have joined the group all of the game nights have been at the same house. They decided to shake it up a bit so I offered up our house as the July Game Night location. Typically whoever hosts the game night provides the meat and then everyone else brings a dish to pass. It's all coordinated so that we have appetizers, drinks, meal and dessert. I have to say that everyone did a good job this time around as we were all completely stuffed! So this past Friday we got the house in shape for our night. I was stressing over what game we should play but it seems I need not worry because we always end up playing the same game which is Catch Phrase. Although this time we did convince everyone to sneek in a few games of Scattagories. Both games are pretty fun but the new guy (Apparently a new co-worker has made a good impression so he and his date were introduced into the group) just didn't seem to get how the game worked. Poor guy! Not only were new people cool but they brought the best baklava!! And when I say best I mean it was the best baklava I have ever tasted! The night was fun as usually but longer than normal. You know you have thrown a good party when you have empty bottles of liquor and half the party had to sleep over at your house!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
