Top 10 things I learned from my Disney World & Cruise Vacation

Sorry it's been a while folks but I went on vacation (Jan 24-Feb 1st) and I have been trying to recover from Disney Ebola (I'll explain later). Not to mention, this week I am on call for jury duty and trying to get back into a very busy time at work! I will likely do a recap of the vacation but I am not sure when I will have a free moment. For now, here are some things I learned on my recent Disney vacation.

#10. The STATE ROOMS on the Walt Disney Cruise ship WONDER are huge!!! They beat Carnival anyday. However, the pin pong ball in the ceiling had me going bonkers for a few hours.

#9. The DISNEY DELUXE MEAL PLAN at Walt Disney World, is too much food for any human being to consume! I'd like to meet the person who can consume all that food with ease because they certainly have impressive eating skills.

#8. SNACK CREDITS are awesome! Even when you have Disney Ebola and can't use them as they should be used. Not only are snacks awesome but if you can't use the alotted two per day at least you can use them all at once at the end of your visit. The very last day we were at Walt Disney World I was able to go snack shopping, which was way cool because I left with a whole bag of yummy tasty treats. I can't wait to try my Disney Jaw Breaker and Disney Rice Krispie Treat.

#7. JIKO, this South African Restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, still has the best food at Disney!

#6. DISNEY CHARACTER BUFFETS are not that bad. Cape May actually looked good despite having Disney Ebola! And I made out with Donald Duck!

#5. THE BEACH CLUB RESORT rocks! Loved their sand bottom pool. Too bad I didn't get to go in due to my Disney Ebola.

#4. HIGH SPEED WINDS that prevent a cruise ship from docking at CastAway Cay, Disney's private island, suck! I wonder if that island really exists after hearing a man say this was his second cruise where they were not able to go to the island? Maybe it disappeared like on LOST so that was why we couldn't dock???

#3. The huge and amazing ATLANTIS RESORT in the Bahamas was super nice! The waterpark with slides going through actual shark pool was way cool!

#2. MAGICAL MOMENTS really do happen!!! The hub and I were lucky to be in the right spot at the right time. A Disney employee ended up taking us at out on a private boat to watch the Epcot fireworks show. Something that is super hard to book not to mention super expensive and we got it for free cuz someone didn't show up!! Then on the ship an employee presented my sister-in-law an actually Magical Moments certificate.

#1. Having DISNEY EBOLA is a big bummer!!! The hub, his step-brother and I got the stomach flu after this kid we were sitting next to, on the plane to Orlando, starting a marathon barfing session. He must have infected us and whamo we got sick the day after we arrived in Orlando. There is a piece of the hub's stomach in Morrocco at Epcot that I am sure is getting pretty smelly by now! We referred to our sickness as Disney Ebola because at one point I wanted to tear off my skin! As if stomach flu isn't bad enough, we both picked up a cold on the cruise ship. I need to reevaluate that wooden table I just moved into my health room. Wood is not feng shui for that room. I need to move it or put a cure in there!

I am very interested with #9 the Disney deluxe meal plan. What do you think? Is my eating skill up to challenge?
You might be the only person who would be able to accomplish this feat!

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
